Hidden Leaves: Tao Te Ching

Tao Te Ching & daily journal

Free · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.

Hidden Leaves is a quiet space for reading the Tao Te Ching, the classic Taoist text attributed to Laozi. All 81 chapters are included in both Russian (the Konissi–Tolstoy translation) and English (James Legge's 1891 translation), switching automatically with your system language. What's inside: Random shows a new chapter every time you open the app, so the book unfolds gradually instead of all at once. Divination lets you enter a chapter and line, or simply describe what's on your mind, and the app surfaces a passage that resonates. Everything happens on your device — nothing is sent anywhere. Journal is for writing down the thoughts a chapter brings up, linked to that chapter. You can also log your mood to Apple Health, so entries sit alongside the rest of your wellbeing data. Share turns a verse you like into an image for stories and messages. Widget puts today's chapter right on your Lock Screen or Home Screen, tapping through to the same passage in the app. Apple Watch offers the same random verse, divination, and quick journal entries right from your wrist, synced with your iPhone. No accounts, no ads, no tracking — just a book that's there when you want it.

Ratings & Reviews

  • This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.

• New home screen: Verse of the Day, one verse for each day. • Chapter text is laid out more calmly: one sentence per line, chapter number in words. • Choose the language in Settings: Russian, English or same as system. • Optional daily notification with the verse of the day at the time you choose. • Writing a thought: the lines of the chapter are open at once, pick the ones you want to add to your entry. • A tidier picture when sharing, with a link to the app. • Settings are now behind the gear icon. • Small improvements and fixes.
