KoKo is an iPhone app for learning vocabulary in 25 languages: 6,040 words per language, sorted into 38 topics and three levels, memorized with spaced repetition in a few minutes a day.
You choose the language you speak and the one you want to learn (Spanish, French, Japanese, Arabic or another). KoKo teaches you new words four at a time, then brings each one back for review right when you were about to forget it.

HOW IT WORKS
• A round is four new words. Each one goes through four steps: recognize it (two multiple-choice questions), then type it both ways.
• A typo is forgiven; a mistake only sends you back one step, not through the whole round.
• Spaced repetition brings each word back just before you forget it. A word you know well only returns once a year.
• Your flame counts your days in a row, and a reminder at the time you choose helps you keep going.

• 30 ready-to-learn situations: at a restaurant, at the airport, at a hotel, at the doctor's, at the bank, job interview…
• Utilities: must-know words, questions, opposites, time and, for English, 76 irregular verbs with their forms.
• Pronunciation of every word with the iPhone's voices, plus a slow voice.
• Two mini-games (matching pairs and listening), a custom test, your favorites and your personal lists.
• Widgets, Siri, Control Center, and listening to a list with the screen locked.
• Your progress: words learned, days in a row, calendar, weekly summary and estimated level.
• iCloud sync across your devices, and everything works offline.

The app itself is translated into these 25 languages: you can learn any of them from any other, and every language you start keeps its own progress.

KoKo is free to download, with no account to create and no ads. The free version lets you try the method with the "Home and furniture" topic (150 words).
KoKo Plus, a monthly, quarterly or yearly subscription you can cancel anytime, unlocks all 38 topics, the 30 situations, the utilities and personal lists.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much time a day? A round takes a few minutes; you choose your daily goal.
Is it good for beginners? Yes: KoKo starts with the most common words, translated into your language.
Does KoKo work offline? Yes, all the vocabulary is on your iPhone.
Does KoKo teach grammar? No: KoKo focuses on vocabulary, what most often stands between you and understanding or being understood.
What about my data? No account, no ad tracking: KoKo only measures anonymous usage statistics, never what you type, and nothing at all for users under 16.
