■ New features - Watercolor now has Re-wetting. When you paint over dried paint, the paint underneath dissolves again. You can turn it on or off under Medium in brush details. ■ Improvements - Brush details are now divided into four sections: Bristle, Pigment, Medium and Support. Tap a heading to open or close it; open sections stay open the next time you open the app. - The brush palette now opens more smoothly. - Drawing is faster and uses less memory. ■ Changes - Filling by long-pressing the color button has been removed.

■ New features - Oil and Watercolor now have Live brushes, which simulate how the bristles move as you paint. They come in round and flat, in sizes No. 6, 8 and 10. - Brush details now include a Stabilizer, which you can turn on or off for each brush. - To reorder brushes in the brush palette, long-press the handle on the left of a brush and drag it. - The home screen has a new News button. ■ Improvements - You can adjust Water and Pigment for watercolor, and Pigment for oil, below the brush list. - The Ink tool icon is now a G-pen nib, and its color history is an ink bottle. - The current color at the bottom of the screen is now shown as a hue wheel. - When you drag a layer to reorder it, the list now scrolls, so you can move it to positions outside the visible area.

■ New features - Custom and Favorites have been added to the brush palette. You can duplicate a brush's settings and customize them, and save brushes as favorites. - Hue/Saturation/Lightness has been added to Filters. - Flip Horizontal and Flip Vertical have been added to layers. - You can now enter a HEX color code for the background color. ■ Improvements - The brush palette opens faster the first time.

■ New features - Duplicate and Merge Down have been added to layers. - Reset has been added to Lighting. ■ Bug fixes - Fixed an issue where a selection carried over when creating a new artwork or opening another one. - Fixed an issue where the thickness of the first Oil stroke on a layer spilled outside the selection.

Fixed an issue where the layer list couldn't be scrolled when there were many layers.

■ New features - Ink has been added. Choose from 7 pens, including Ballpoint, Felt-tip pen, Fountain pen, G-pen, Maru pen and Brush pen. - Ink flows and bleeds through the wet paper. It pools where you pause, and spreads differently depending on the paper. - How fast you draw changes the width and density of the line. You can fine-tune the bleed and line weight for each brush.

■ New features - Selections have been added. Choose Select in the toolbox and mark out an area with Rectangle, Ellipse, Lasso or Brush. - You can paint only inside the selection, and transform it or apply filters to it alone. Watercolor stops at the edge of the selection and pools there. - You can add to or subtract from the selection, and use All, Invert and Clear.

■ New features - Scenes for showing the canvas have been added. When you create a new canvas, you can choose from Canvas, Wood panel and Simple. - The color palette now has a HEX field. You can type a color code to set the color. ■ Improvements - Wet watercolor now catches the light as a film of water on the paper, and the sheen settles as the paint dries. - Pencil mixing has been reworked, so the color laid on top takes over even after the grain of the paper is filled. ■ Bug fixes - Fixed an issue where the first finger of a pinch left a mark on the canvas. - Fixed an issue where importing a photo that was too large did nothing, because the size alert never appeared. - Fixed an issue where the contents of the color palette sat too high.

■ New features - A pressure curve has been added. Under Pressure in the tool menu, you can shape how pen pressure responds. ■ Improvements - iOS 17 is now supported. - Choosing another tool now applies and closes any settings left open. - Reset for Resize has moved to the top of the panel, and is dimmed when there is nothing to reset.

■ New features - A sable round brush and a sable flat brush have been added to Oil. ■ Improvements - The maximum brush size has been raised from 200 to 400. - Oil has been reworked substantially: the build-up of paint, the furrows left by the brush and the way picked-up colors mix are now closer to real oil painting. - Reworked how Crayon and Pastel smear and blend. - Wet on Wet can now be turned on and off for Watercolor. - Watercolor drying time can now be set in seconds, and paint that has dried now stays fixed in place. - The Watercolor settings have been renamed to Drying, Drying time, Load and Water. - The brush name is now shown at the top left of the preview, making it easier to move between the list and the settings. - Reworked the artwork grid on the home screen so that thumbnails fit their frames. ■ Bug fixes - Fixed an issue where Pencil, Colored pencil, Crayon and Pastel came out darker as the brush size was raised. - Fixed an issue where streaks appeared in Crayon strokes. - Fixed an issue where Crayon scraped away the build-up of oil paint. - Fixed an issue where the shadow and the arrow of hint bubbles did not line up.

■ New features - An airbrush has been added to the physics brushes. - Canvas resizing has been added. - The interface has been renewed for better visibility and handling. ■ Improvements - Brush palette colors can now be chosen from the bottom bar. - Licenses can now be viewed in Settings. ■ Bug fixes - Reworked how watercolor paint settles, fixing an issue where the color came out too strong depending on brush size.

■ New features - Added references. You can pin a photo of your own, or one from the Library, to the wall beside the canvas. - So you can try your hand at coloring, you can now pick a piece from the Library and insert its line art. - Timelapses can now be set up: duration, opening and ending, and size. ■ Improvements - Timelapse has moved to the lower part of the artwork card, so you can watch it right away. - Duration now defaults to full length. Even in artworks that run for tens of seconds, nothing is skipped. - Added a close button to the Color, Brush and Layer panels.

■ Improvements - You can now undo your last stroke while the watercolor is still wet. - The name of the action you just took appears briefly at the top of the canvas. - Added 23 display languages, for 34 in total. Default layer and artwork names now appear in your language as well. - “Dry” and “Set” can now only be tapped while the paint is wet. - Swatches now open on the tab you had open last time. - Frames with no change to the drawing are no longer redrawn, which lowers power use. ■ Bug fixes - Fixed an issue where the artwork list on the home screen sometimes could not be scrolled.

■New Features - Added pastel as a new medium. It comes in soft and hard, each available with a standard, thick, or chisel tip. Lay the pastel on its side to cover broad areas. Settings such as the core's composition, transfer, and dust can be adjusted from the brush detail screen. ■Improvements - Fixed how the height of the paper grain is sampled. Values were taken straight from the particle lattice, which skewed the randomness and made the gaps in the grain come out narrower than intended. Media that pick up the paper grain, such as pencil and crayon, will lay down differently. - Added Italian as a display language, bringing the total to 11 languages. ■Bug Fixes - None. ■Other - Starting with this version, banner ads appear on the Home screen and on the canvas. - Added a one-time purchase that removes ads. You can buy it from Settings, and "Restore Purchases" brings it back after a reinstall or on another device.

■New Features - Undo and Redo buttons now sit in the top-left corner of the canvas, so you can take back your last action without breaking your flow. - Palm rejection is here. While your Apple Pencil is hovering over or resting on the canvas, your palm and fingers are ignored, so you can rest your hand as you draw — and a canceled touch no longer leaves a half-drawn stroke behind. ■Improvements - Undo history is now stored compressed. It uses far less memory, so more steps are kept even on large canvases. - Optimized the size of the toolbar sliders to make them easier to grab. ■Bug Fixes - Fixed a double shadow that appeared behind the toolbar icons.
