Record the things around you and collect their sounds as living specimens. Shape and motion come from the measurements. Flick a glass. Knock the table. Pluck a rubber band. That sound becomes a creature. Hibiki Atlas turns the things around you into a collection of sounds. Record for three seconds and the app measures fourteen numbers from what it heard — pitch, decay, harmonics, noisiness and more — then builds a slime whose shape and motion come straight from those numbers. No randomness is involved. The same sound always makes the same creature, and a different sound always makes a different one. What you see is a direct translation of what was measured. - Color is pitch. Lower sounds are red, and every octave moves the hue along - Bumps are harmonics. Pure sounds are round; rich ones grow lumpy - Bells and metal, whose partials sit off the whole numbers, grow lopsided bodies - Struck sounds shake when you poke them, and the shake lasts exactly as long as the ring - Sustained sounds breathe slowly, and voices with vibrato tremble at the surface Merge two specimens and the child inherits from both: pitch lands between the parents, and each harmonic is taken whole from whichever parent was stronger there. No randomness here either, so the same pair always produces the same child.
