Étude turns classical sheet music into MIDI files, right on your device. It reads real LilyPond scores, builds them with an engine that shows its work, and plays the result on a warmly recorded upright piano. Export any piece as a standard MIDI file and open it in GarageBand, Logic, or any music app.

THE CORPUS
Debussy's Clair de Lune, Satie's Gymnopédie No. 1 and Gnossienne No. 1, Bach's Air on the G String, Prelude in C, and Minuet in G, and the Largo from Vivaldi's Winter. Every composition is in the public domain, and every typesetting is credited on the in-app credits screen.
BUILT IN THE OPEN
Étude is open source. The entire engine, its tests, and the complete development history are public, and the git log replays as a course in test-driven development. If you are curious how the app builds your music, you can read every line and every step that got it there.
No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no network required. Your music builds on your device.

Pieces now open ready to play. Tap a piece and its tracks and Play button are right there, with no Build step in between. The screen also says which score the music was built from.
On iPad, the library stays beside the piece you are playing.
Tracks have names a musician would use, like "Right hand, upper".
Fixes:
• Play comes back when a piece finishes.
• Changing the tempo no longer hides the tracks while the piece rebuilds.
• If a piece fails to build, you can try again.
