Groovy Journal is for the moments that matter. You make a short entry (often just two to five words), and your brain keeps the rest. Years later, those few words are enough to call the day back.
No daily prompts. No streaks. No pressure to write a full page. Just your journal of important memories on your iPhone, in the order things happened.
HOW IT WORKS
• Add a short entry when something is worth remembering
• Backdate entries anytime. Start this week and still capture a wedding, a birth, or a trip from years ago.
• Scroll months and years of history in your journal with a flick of your finger
• Keep more than one list when you need separate tracks (a main list and extras — e.g. car maintenance, a health log)
• Move an entry to another list when it belongs somewhere else
• Search as you type from the footer (words and tags)
• Use the app in English, French, German, or Dutch
PRIVATE WHEN YOU NEED IT (Advanced)
Have especially sensitive entries? Mark them Private and keep them blurred on the list so shoulder-surfers or friends you’re showing the app to can’t read them. Blur leaves a placeholder, so you still know something is there instead of it vanishing from the list.
MAKE IT YOURS
Other journals say “don’t forget to write.” We won’t nag you. Nothing meaningful may have happened lately, and we can’t know if it did. So you remember the app is still here with your memories, you choose how long after your last entry before a gentle reminder — 7, 14, 30 days, or your own Custom wait (Advanced).
BASIC AND ADVANCED
Basic is free to download and use forever. No subscription. Advanced is a one-time unlock (about $8), not a subscription.
Basic includes your journal on iPhone, Sign in with Apple, private iCloud sync, Search, and the core writing experience with up to two lists. Sign in with the same Apple ID and your journal stays in sync across your iPhones.
Advanced unlocks:
• As many lists as you want
• Tags, plus Match any / Match all in the filter
• Private entries (blur when you need to)
• Time between and Time since on a long-press
• Gentle check-ins after your own gap (including Custom)
• More date, separator, and appearance choices
• Note-style input, photos, and other Advanced extras
• Family Sharing: one purchase can unlock Advanced for your Apple Family; each person keeps their own private journal
Greyed Advanced controls stay visible in Basic; tap one and the unlock sheet appears.
