Meet the Raccoon! • New bug: the Raccoon. His power is NIGHT VISION: for a few seconds he sees through the dark rooms, and every catcher in his room runs away in fear for a moment, giving him a head start. • Three Raccoon skins: Ginger, Arctic, and the Bandit, who floats down under a yellow trash bag and sees the dark in amber. • Flight canopies come alive: the Bandit's trash bag billows and the Prisoner Fly's newspaper flaps in the wind. • The clock room's plate is now a raised block that presses down when anyone stands on it, with a glowing loader around its rim. • New catchers get a tip explaining they can't go outside. • Privacy: if you decline personalised ads in the consent message, the game no longer asks for tracking permission. • Smoother lighting and shadows, plus other fixes.

Refinements and fixes. • Notifications: after a couple of matches the game asks if it may send you a notification now and then, for new bugs, catchers and events. It is optional, and you can switch it off at any time in your device settings. • Rooms are a touch brighter.

Refinements and fixes. NEW PLAYERS • The practice room now shows you what to do instead of telling you: floor dots lead the way to a hiding spot, and a pointing hand lands on the exact button to press — no reading required. • A hand rests on the joystick when you are asked to walk somewhere, and disappears the moment you start moving. • The smash hint now only appears when you are actually close enough to break the hiding spot in front of you. • No bloodstains or bodies in the practice room. IMPROVEMENTS • A full hold on the Clock Room's brass plate now pays 15 buzz, up from 10. • Lanterns are visible in any lit room, not only the one you are standing in. • Smoother computer-controlled players — catchers get moving as quickly as a real player does, only one of them works on a sealed steel door instead of crowding it, and they face the way they are walking as they close on the freezer's ice.

Refinements and fixes. IMPROVEMENTS • The Clock Room now appears correctly on every map layout, and a gold ring sweeps around the brass plate as you hold it. • The Octopus blends more closely into whatever is right behind him when he holds still. • Smoother computer-controlled players — running bugs no longer jitter, bots now break through and hop over the freezer's ice walls, and they hold their ground around the Clock Room. • In the store, the preview arrows step through the champions in the same order as the grid. FIXES • Deleting your account while offline now finishes cleanly the next time you are online.

A new room to stand your ground in, a new trick for the Octopus, and replays you choose to watch. NEW • The Clock Room. One room on the catchers' side of the map now holds a grandfather clock. Stand still on its brass plate for 5 seconds to earn buzz and take 15 seconds off the round, once per bug. While you stand, the catchers hear it ticking and see the room light up on their map, and one hit stops the clock for 15 seconds. • The Octopus camouflages. Stand still for a moment and he takes on the look of whatever is behind him, until he moves again. • The Pincher's anchor now works while gliding. Hook the wall ahead and get hauled over it onto the floor behind. • Replays wait for you. After you are caught, tap the replay button to watch it back instead of it playing on its own. IMPROVEMENTS • Solo matches load without freezing the screen on the way in. • Smoother play on older phones. • In solo, the arrows over players show your team in blue and the other team in red. • New players get a name straight away, and the weekly leaderboard shows your new name after you change it. FIXES • A bug in mid-leap can no longer duck into a hiding spot and become uncatchable. • The Termite can no longer dig in from a trampoline or in mid-leap, and a bot Termite no longer dies when it burrows. • No more flicker on the screen when a match ends. • Deleting your account while offline now finishes the next time you are online.

Online matches now run on our own servers. ONLINE • PLAY ONLINE no longer runs on another player's phone. A public match is hosted on our own server, so a stranger quitting, crashing or closing the game can no longer end your round. • Matches start faster. The server is now ready before the countdown finishes instead of afterwards, and the searching screen tells you what it is doing. • Other players and bots move far more smoothly online. Their movement is now drawn with enough room to absorb an ordinary home connection's jitter, so bodies glide instead of freezing and snapping. • Finding a public game is quicker. • In public matches the two sides are rolled per player, so you and a friend can end up on the same team. • Private lobbies and SAME WIFI games are unchanged. Those are still hosted by a player, exactly as before. SPEED • A large performance pass across the whole game. Older phones run noticeably smoother, and iPads run cooler and quieter than before. • The game now opens straight to the menu instead of waiting twice on the way in, and shows a loader while it does instead of a still picture. PLAYING • Bots turn before they walk, their legs keep pace with their bodies, and they sneak on their own far less often. • Calmer screen shake when a catcher is close to you. • A clearer match timer, a new pre-match line-up card showing everyone's champion and rank, and a loader on the power button so you can see when your power is ready. • Weapons no longer fail silently. A shot that cannot reach tells you why. FIXES • Being caught right next to a wall no longer leaves the catch unfinished. • Another player's crouch now shows correctly on your screen. • Online bots can no longer catch a bug through a wall or a shut steel door. • A fire that has just started gives a bug a moment to get clear. • The Pincher's anchor now bites the fridge's ice instead of the wall behind it. • Smashing a cabinet no longer breaks a second prop on your screen alone. • Bots in public matches use emotes the way players do: a fixed set of three each.

Online rooms that could never start, and a better first game. ONLINE • Fixed the biggest problem with PLAY ONLINE. If the player who opened a room quit, crashed, lost connection or put the game in the background, nobody left in that room could ever start a match — and everyone tapping PLAY ONLINE kept being matched into it. Rooms now notice when their host has gone and move you into a live game on their own, without you having to do anything. • If the game service hiccups while that is happening, you are put into a fresh room instead of being sent back to the menu. • A match that failed to start now restarts its countdown instead of sitting on STARTING. NEW PLAYERS • The short lessons now appear in your first online matches too, not just in single player. They stop by themselves after three games, or the moment you tap TEACH ME to skip them. • The "outside = out" hold at an outside doorway works online while those lessons are on, so a new player cannot walk out of the map by accident. Nothing about online difficulty changes: catchers keep their full speed and weapons, and no one is shown where anyone else is.

Controls, sound and layout fixes. CONTROLS • The game no longer vibrates your phone at all. • The on-screen buttons now start where they belong. The strike plate, the sneak/scan toggle, the emote button and the zoom dial all have new default positions and sizes, and the interaction column lines up with them. If you had dragged your own layout, it is reset once to the new default. • The lobby's bottom row of buttons now sits evenly on every device. On phones with a notch or an island, the two end buttons were being pushed inward while the middle three stayed put. SOUND • Fixed the crackling and static heard during matches. The background ambience was streaming off storage for the whole round, and a missed refill crackled over whatever else was playing — which is why it could turn up while flying, or while standing still in an empty room. • Fixed the crackle when a bug tapped SNEAK. The cue carried a near-silent sub-bass rumble that tripped the phone speaker's own protection and ducked everything under it. • The sneak breath now has its own audio voice, so a busy match can no longer cut it short or stack it over itself. • Fixed the burst of static when a catcher's SCAN ring swept past you — the spark effect was rebuilding itself for every bug on one frame and starving the audio. PLAY • An ant using its shield can no longer be caught a moment later. Six attacks refused him on contact and then finished the job seconds afterwards on their own clock without asking again: the gas jet, the gas cloud, the flame, the laser, the tongue and vacuum, the spear, the net and the hose slam. All of them now check the shield at the moment the kill lands. • Both strike plates now show a loading ring, so you can see at a glance when your power is ready. • A bug in mid-air can no longer be hit by ground attacks — the laser, the tongue, the club, the snout, the ball and the web all respect height now. • A burning catcher keeps moving instead of freezing in place. • Catchers' dogs no longer bark at lanterns in empty rooms. • Every room the bugs find shortens the round a little. LOOK • New pre-match line-up card showing both teams, with each player's name, rank, champion and power. • Clearer name cards and a redrawn stunned icon. • The in-game menu button lost its stray square outline.
