Speki listens, speaks and looks things up when you want it to. • Speak instead of typing: press the microphone. Your speech becomes text here on your Mac, with Apple's own speech model. • Read aloud: have an answer read to you with one click. • Conversation: talk to Speki, hear the answer and keep talking. Say "goodbye" when you are done. • Web lookup: turn on the globe in a conversation, and Speki can look up facts on Wikipedia and read links you give it. Off by default. Only the search words are sent, straight to Wikipedia – never to us. The answer shows its sources. • Speki in your language: now also in German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Swedish and Danish. If another model writes better in your language, Speki tells you. Everything else still happens on your Mac. We receive nothing.

Fixed: Speki 1.6 did not start on Macs running macOS 26 (Tahoe) – the app closed right away. Sorry! Everything from 1.6 is included: Speki calculates the numbers and shows the working, formulas are shown as formulas, "Answer again" comes without waiting, and Gemma 4 sees images. Everything still happens on your Mac, unless you choose the company model yourself. We receive nothing.

Speki calculates correctly, shows formulas and lets you try an answer again without waiting. • Speki calculates: when an answer needs numbers – loans, interest, percentages, dates, currency, statistics – the model writes a small calculation and your Mac works it out. When "Calculated" appears under the answer, your Mac did the math, and you can see the working. In our tests the model was off by 195 kroner a month on a mortgage when it calculated in its head; now it is right to the cent. Works with the local Qwen models 9B, 27B and 35B. • Formulas are shown as formulas, also when you save the answer as Word or PDF. • Answer again without waiting: the model goes straight back to before the last question instead of reading the whole conversation again. You can flip between the answer versions, and the model remembers the one you are looking at. • New conversation from here: start a new conversation with the messages up to an answer. The old one stays as it is. • Document search no longer looks in your notes when the question has nothing to do with them. • The first answer in a new conversation comes faster: the instructions are read in while you type. • Images with Gemma 4 12B and 26B. Gemma sees images at a lower resolution than Qwen, so for receipts and small text Qwen is still best, and Speki tells you so. Speki sees images, shows its sources and saves answers as Word and PDF. • Images in: paste (⌘V), drag in or attach a screenshot, a receipt or a photo of a document, and ask. The model reads small text too, and you can ask follow-up questions. Images stay on your Mac. Works with the local Qwen models from 4B and up. • See the source: "Show in file" under an answer opens the document next to the conversation, on the right page with the passage highlighted. Attached files open the same way. • Save answers as Word or PDF (⌘S), with headings, lists and tables. The document is marked as AI-generated. • Longer conversations: the context window is doubled to 16K on Macs with enough memory, instructions are sent once instead of with every message, and Speki uses up to 3 GB less memory in long conversations. • Better answers from PDFs: documents are now split by their paragraphs instead of arbitrary chunks, so Speki finds the right part. • Safe storage: models live in Speki's own folder, where macOS won't delete them when the disk fills up. The conversations' working memory has a cap and can be cleared under Storage in Machine. • The model remembers the conversation after a restart, new instructions and the thinking switch. • Fixed: the input field grows with long questions, the reasoning stays folded, "Answer again" includes attached files, and the company model retries when the network isn't ready right after sleep — and says clearly when it's the server name that can't be found. Everything still happens on your Mac, unless you choose the company model yourself. We receive nothing.

Long answers are no longer cut off, and answers look better. • Answer length: the company model decides the length itself, and the local model can write several pages. If an answer is still stopped, Speki says so and offers a Continue button. If the model starts repeating itself, the answer is stopped. Choose Automatic, Short or Long under Machine. • Formatted answers: headings, lists, tables and code blocks with a Copy button. • Actions on every message: copy, answer again, edit and resend — or delete. A deleted message also leaves what the model remembers. • "Think carefully": a switch in the input field lets the model think first, and you can unfold its reasoning afterwards. • Search your conversations (⌘F), pin the important ones to the top, and give a conversation its own instructions under "About this conversation". • Larger or smaller text with ⌘+ and ⌘−. All shortcuts in one sheet (⌘/). • Machine has its own window (⌘,): four recommended models, an explanation of each engine, and sections you can collapse. Shared knowledge folders can be removed one by one. • Check for updates from the Speki menu. The check at launch stays off until you turn it on, and only asks Apple's public listing for the app's version — nothing about you. • Fixed: ⌘N always starts a new conversation, and an invitation link opens in the window you have. Speki can now use your company's own model — if you choose to. • Company model: connect Speki to a model on your company's own network, for example a server you reach over Tailscale. Off by default. You see a cloud symbol in the status bar, in the sidebar and under every answer while it is selected, and Speki tells you the first time in each conversation. The document index and search stay on your Mac. Nothing is sent to ADfunc. • Questions about the whole folder ("summarise my notes") are answered from the summaries, instead of a caveat. • Teammates can be deleted from the edit sheet. Everything else still happens locally. The company model only uses your own network, and only when you have turned it on.

Speki is sturdier: a technical problem in the model no longer takes the whole app down, and damaged model files are caught before they are used. • If the model runs into a problem, for example too little free memory at that moment, Speki tells you and reloads it on your next message — instead of disappearing. • An interrupted or damaged download is now detected before the model is used. Speki names the file and fetches just that one again. Everything still happens locally — none of this requires (or uses) the network.

Speki now answers with sources and says clearly when the answer isn't in your documents. • Folders in a conversation: give a conversation a folder and Speki finds the right passage — by meaning, not just by keyword, once the search model is downloaded under Machine. "Sources" under each answer shows the excerpts it built on, so you can read them yourself. • A model catalog in plain language: "Versatile and fast", "Best for Norwegian", "Lightning-fast and simple" — with size, memory needs and technical details one click away. • Rename conversations, and a clear "New conversation" button (⌘N). • The status bar shows how hard the CPU and GPU are working, and how much disk space is free. • Interrupted downloads clean up after themselves, so half-downloaded models never fill your disk. Everything still happens locally — none of this requires (or uses) the network.
