Every word problem can be redrawn as rectangles. Once you see it, the answer stops being a guess.
Turn the words into a "picture" — and your math intuition shoots way up.
Aha! Math teaches one powerful idea: every word problem can be redrawn as rectangles. Once you can see the problem, the answer stops being a guess.
■ Read it right, with the Six-Color Marker Method
Before solving, you mark up the question yourself — splitting it into chunks and colouring each one. What you are looking for gets its own colour. The app never splits the sentence for you, because deciding where to cut is the part that builds reading skill. Tap "Aha! in Color" any time to see one sample way to split it.
■ See it as an area diagram
Height x width = area. Price per item x how many. Points per question x how many questions. Legs per animal x how many animals. One picture handles all of them, so what you learn on one problem carries over to the next.
■ Hints that build the picture with you
Hints add one line to the diagram at a time, until the rectangle whose height and width you already know appears. On some problems the final hints work the calculation through, so you can check your answer. Prefer words? "Another Way: Step by Step" walks through the same problem as a guided sequence of small questions.
■ Practice at your level

- Six-Color Marker Method — Master Level
- Practice Problems — Basic, Intermediate and Advanced
- Test Mode and Challenge Mode, with a timer and randomly chosen problems
■ Track what is growing
Every answer, every marking attempt and every hint is recorded, so you can see which problems still need another look.

The Color It In button now glows softly until you try it once, so it is easier to find. Start every problem there: cut the sentence, color what belongs together, then use Hint or Another Way if you still need them.
