Smoother all round: a new pin, event, report or alert opens the moment you create it, switching between things and closing them no longer jumps, and place details now fit above the tab bar. Campus mode stays off when you turn it off, plus chat and photo upload fixes.

A cleaner map in dark mode, claimed places can share their hours, menu, deals and news, organisers can claim imported events, and lots of fixes.

Directions on campus now follow the roads and footpaths, the way they do everywhere else. Plus fixes and polish.

Posting is faster: photos start uploading the moment you pick them, and a new pin shows up on the map straight away while it finishes posting. Long events are safe to start: an event you are writing is kept as a draft on your phone until you post it. More kinds of places, events and reports: classrooms, buildings, labs, malls, gyms, bus stops and more; workshops, talks and fundraisers; class changes, transport, lost and found, and freebies. Tap a group of pins to see every place in it, with photos and details. Places show their cover photo in lists and on their page. Floors now read the way the campus says them, like "2nd floor (B)". Plus smoother route planning from any starting point, and a number of fixes from our testers.

Know what's going on around you at a glance. - A new sign at the top of the map tells you what's happening within a short walk: an alert, an event on, one about to start, reports coming in, or a quiet spell. - "What are you adding?" is four painted boards that fit on one screen, whatever your phone. - Every button now gives a little under your finger. - A business's sign now carries their own note, lettered on the board. - Happening now events can set an attendee limit, and live events show how full they are. - Pictures in chat fit their bubble properly. - A refreshed quick guide that matches your light or dark mode.

A fresh coat of paint, and walks that go all the way inside. - On campus, directions take you into the right building, on the right side, and up to the right floor. - A business's status now shows as the painted sign they put up, with their note and menu below it. - Pictures in chat fill the bubble, and everyone in a chat gets their own colour. - Posted a report by mistake? Undo it right after. - In an emergency, Cite now points you to 119, one tap away. - Cite follows your phone's light or dark mode. - Busy spots with lots of pins open as a list you can narrow down. - Smoother sheets, clearer buttons and icons, and plenty of small fixes.

Nearby lists scroll all the way through again, so you can reach every place around you. Reports now carry a Checks timeline: who confirmed or disputed them, and how long ago. Opening a report from a place starts at the top instead of part way down it. Messages no longer block the screen while they are showing.

Reports now age the way the thing they describe ages. A note about a place being busy lasts a couple of hours, not half a day. A campus notice lasts a week. Confirming a report keeps it up for longer, and a report nobody backs up goes quietly instead of sitting on the map. Confirming an alert no longer cuts its life short. A missing person alert in particular now stays up for as long as it was meant to. Times across the app are live now. Something posted an hour ago says an hour ago, wherever you read it, instead of staying on "Just now" until you reopened the app. Also fixed: a plan that has ended says so rather than showing as active, and the upgrade sheet no longer runs under the status bar on smaller phones.

Events have a camera now. Take photos at an event and they land in one shared grid that everyone there can see, finished with a warm film look. You can send pictures in an event's chat too, and share the night once it is over. Organisers can draw how much ground a night covers. The map shows the area, and photos can only be taken by people actually inside it while the event is running. Events now show their cover photo on the map, so you can see what a night looks like before you open it. The map is quieter. Pins, reports and clusters are smaller, a pin sitting under an event folds into it, and nothing hangs below a marker any more. Also fixed: signing up with an emailed code, notices appearing behind pop-ups, and the door scanner reading the same ticket twice.

Cite works without an account now. Open the map, see what is live nearby, get walking directions and read what people have posted, all before you sign up. Make an account when there is something you want to keep. Also new: filter the map by building or by what is happening right now, and see the walk to a place the moment you pick it. Updated UI for certain features in the app.

What's new in Cite 1.1 • Pay for an event ahead of time. Organisers can say how they take payment (bank transfer, Lynk or a payment link), and you can attach your transfer screenshot so they can confirm your place. • Follow the organiser. Events can now show their Instagram, WhatsApp and other handles. • Crowded map? Tap a cluster of events, pins or reports and it fans out so you can pick the one you want. • Pinning on campus is quicker. Choose the building and floor from a list instead of typing them. • Cancelling a paid place now tells you who to contact about a refund, and lets the organiser know straight away. • A new Organiser plan page, one tap from Account. • Plus fixes and polish throughout.
