Pocket Golf flies the ball, it doesn't just score it. Speed, spin and spin axis carry every shot, the lie and the slope argue with it, and when it lands you get the same readout a launch monitor would hand you: ball speed, club speed, smash factor, launch angle, spin rate, club path, face angle, attack angle, carry and total.
Miss the middle and you can see exactly why. A slice becomes a diagnosis instead of a mystery.
FOUR WAYS TO SWING
Swipe — drag down to load the backswing, flick up to hit. Angle the swipe and the ball shapes with it: left for a fade, right for a draw.
Motion — hold the phone like a club and take a real swing. Its own sensors read your tempo, your club path and where the face is pointing at impact. No extra hardware. Just room behind you.
Gamepad — the right stick is the club head seen from above. Pull it back to take the club away, push it through to strike. The angle you pull back at sets the club path and where the push lands sets the face, so you can call a draw and then go and hit it. The left stick aims.
Launch monitor — hit a real ball with a real club and your monitor feeds the numbers straight in. It connects over GSPro Open Connect, the same link the Garmin R10, Rapsodo MLM2PRO and Uneekor connectors use, from a computer or over Wi-Fi to your phone.
HUNDREDS OF COURSES
Links, parkland, heathland, desert and a clifftop headland. Every course is traced from public map data and built on real elevation, so the ground moves the way ground actually moves — the slopes feed, the run-outs run out, and a downhill lie is a downhill lie.
Built in: Kittiwake Links, Harrowburn Links, Furnace Ridge, Longleaf Sands, Ganton and Ocotillo Wash. Hundreds more are in the course store, eighteens and nines, to find by name, town or map.
PLAY AGAINST SOMEONE
Online multiplayer — play friends live or on your own time, in the same 9- or 18-hole match. Stroke play (up to 4 golfers) or 1v1 match play. Live, you take turns in golf order and watch every shot fly. Apart, watch their shot replays with 3D tracers and see ghost balls at their lies before you swing.
Global leaderboards — every course has an all-time board and a fresh one every week. Ties break the way golf does: everyone level with you shares the position.
Tournaments — multi-round events with a cut line, against a full field. Make the weekend or go home.
Daily challenge — one course, one setup, everybody plays the same thing.
Pass and play — one phone, several golfers, hand it round after each shot.
Friends — claim a handle, add other golfers by theirs, and filter any leaderboard down to just the people you know.
Motion, touch, gamepad and launch monitor are ranked separately, and each keeps its own record. Swiping, swinging and striking a real ball are different skills, and a blended board would rank none of them honestly.
ALSO IN THE BAG
