One purchase, no subscription. A session turns on your Focus mode and starts your music. The break puts both back. Tomatino is a Pomodoro timer for the macOS menu bar. It counts your session down on a dial, and it takes over the two steps around it: a work session turns on a Focus mode and starts your music, the break turns Focus off and pauses the music again. THE TIMER A capsule in the menu bar shows the time left. Filled while it runs, outlined while it is paused, and coloured by phase, so a glance up tells you the state along with the time. A click opens the overview with the dial, the controls and the cycle. Option-click, right-click or a global shortcut start and pause without opening anything. Sessions run from 15 to 90 minutes. You set how many of them make a cycle, how long the breaks are, and whether sessions and breaks start themselves or wait for you. The Timer tab adds up what a whole cycle comes to before you commit to it. FOCUS macOS has no public interface for setting a Focus mode, and the supported route is the Shortcuts app. Tomatino brings along the two shortcuts it needs and adds them at the press of a button, so there is nothing to build. Both come preset to Do Not Disturb. Open one and pick a different mode, or point the two names in the settings at shortcuts you already have. MUSIC Three sources: a playlist from Apple Music, a playlist from Spotify, or a folder of files that Tomatino plays itself. After a break the music picks up where it stopped instead of starting the playlist over, and it is shuffled unless you say otherwise. The folder is the only source that needs no other app: MP3, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, WAV and AIFF play, subfolders count, and it works offline. Apple Music and Spotify are controlled through the apps on your Mac, and macOS asks you once whether Tomatino may do that. WHAT ELSE THE TIMER DOES A sound and a notification at the end of every phase, both optional. A global shortcut to start and pause from anywhere. Launch at login. German and English, following your system language. A running session pauses when your Mac goes to sleep or the screen locks. Breaks keep running, because a break away from the desk is still a break. YOUR DATA Tomatino keeps its settings on your Mac and collects nothing. No account, no telemetry, no analytics, no ads. The app makes no network connection at all. REQUIREMENTS macOS 26 or newer. Focus control needs the Shortcuts app, which is part of macOS.
