Lanternly: Journal & Diary
Mood, Gratitude, Habit Tracker
Free · In‑App Purchases
Your entries stay on your devices. Luna, a gentle companion, listens without judging. No account, no ads, no tracking. Free to write as much as you like.
Lanternly is a journal that keeps your words to yourself. Write, speak, or drop in a photo. Everything stays on your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, synced through your own iCloud. No account, no ads, no analytics on what you write.
MEET LUNA
Luna is a small cat who lives in your journal. She asks a question when you open the app, notices when you have been circling the same thing for a while, and answers when you want to talk. She reflects rather than judges, never hands out advice you did not ask for, and is honest that she is not a person.
Luna works entirely on your device. On iPhone, iPad and Mac with Apple Intelligence she speaks in her own words. On other devices she draws from a curated bank of questions and replies, and the app tells you so plainly.
WRITE THE WAY YOU THINK
• Text, voice (transcribed on device), photos, mood, tags, location and weather
• Autosave, no save button, nothing lost
• Daily journal, gratitude journal, dream journal, plus your own custom journals
• Calendar, search by words and by meaning, "A year ago" flashbacks
• A letter to yourself, sealed until the date you choose
THREE PATHS, ONE JOURNAL
Feelings: a balance wheel, your values, "See it differently" for tangled thoughts, a weekly overview.
Growth: habits without punishment, goals with steps, a weekly rhythm instead of a score.
Decisions: a decision journal with a review date, net worth over time, runway and compound-interest calculators.
Pick one path or move between them. Luna keeps one memory of you across all of them.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Everything is processed on your device
• Sync through your own iCloud (end-to-end encrypted when Advanced Data Protection is on)
• Face ID / Touch ID lock
• The memory Luna keeps about you is visible, editable and deletable
• Export as text, JSON, PDF or EPUB at any time, no lock-in
• Import your Day One archive with dates, photos, locations and weather
FREE, PROPERLY
Journals, Luna, mood, voice, search, sync, export and import are free with no limits. No "days in a row" pressure, no guilt notifications.
LANTERNLY+
For those who want depth over time: unlimited custom journals, monthly reviews with Luna's notes, unlimited goals with habit confirmation from Apple Health, the deep decision review, six premium themes and seasonal outfits for Luna, Luna stickers for iMessage, and printing your journal as a book (PDF and EPUB).
Lanternly+ is a monthly, six-month or yearly subscription with a 7-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple account at confirmation of purchase.
