and still. Stay up instead and it costs you a video you will have to watch back.
Owlish is an alarm for the other end of the day.
At your bedtime it starts ringing. It does not stop when you tap it. It stops
when your phone is face-down and still for six minutes — which is to say, when
you have actually gone to bed.
If you would rather stay up, there is exactly one other way out: record fifteen
seconds of yourself explaining why. That video is saved to an archive on your
phone, and at the end of the month the app cuts your excuses together into a
single video you can watch in daylight.
HOW IT WORKS
- A quiet reminder half an hour before bedtime, and again ten minutes before
- Then five alarms over 45 minutes
- Put the phone face down and still for six minutes. One buzz and they stop
- Or record fifteen seconds saying why you are staying up. That stops them too
- Ignore them and the night is marked with a black card in your monthly video
NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PHONE
No account. No login. No servers of ours. Your videos are written to your iPhone
and stay there — nobody else can see them, and we could not retrieve them if we
wanted to. You can lock the archive behind Face ID and delete any clip whenever
you like.
NOTHING TO FAIL
There is no sleep score. Owlish checks that you are in bed, never that you are
asleep — lying awake calmly is a win. If your phone goes still before the alarms
finish, the rest are cancelled and nothing wakes you.

Owlish is $19.99 once — a one-off purchase, not a subscription. Nothing renews
and there is nothing to cancel.
There is also a monthly plan at $2.99 with the first 14 days free, if you would
rather try it that way. It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24
hours before the period ends; manage or cancel it in your Apple ID settings.
