Your eyes have been open for four hours. They will not tell you. Exhale sits in your menu bar and, every so often, darkens the screen for twenty seconds so your eyes can look at something further away than a monitor. That is the whole idea. Everything else exists so that you keep doing it. WHY THIS ONE STICKS Most break apps are switched off in week two, because they interrupt at the wrong moment and count an empty chair as work. Exhale is built around not doing that. • It knows when you left. Step away for a few minutes and Exhale counts it as the rest it was, then starts the interval fresh. No break is waiting for you when you sit back down. • It waits out your meetings. While your camera or microphone is in use, or a game is full-screen, the break holds. The menu bar tells you which rule is holding it. • It warns first. A small countdown appears before the screen goes dark, so nothing you are typing is lost. • It can be skipped. Slide to skip when you truly cannot stop. Exhale records that you did, and says nothing about it. EYE BREAKS Set how long you work and how long you rest. Twenty seconds every fifteen minutes is the usual advice; anything you keep is better than the perfect setting you turn off. POSTURE AND WATER Two small cards that know how long you have been in the same chair — not how long the app has been running. A nudge out of the chair, and a glass of water, on a rhythm you choose. REMINDERS YOU WRITE YOURSELF Your own words, an icon to match, and any schedule: every day, chosen weekdays, every few hours, or once at a time you pick. They arrive as a quiet card in the corner, and you mark them done or skip them. AN HONEST HISTORY A month of your days, minute by minute: when you were at the Mac, when you were away, which breaks you took and which you skipped. Drawn from what actually happened, not from what you meant to do. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION Exhale asks for no camera, microphone, screen-recording or accessibility permission, and macOS will never prompt you for one on its behalf. It reads only whether the system says a device is in use — never the audio, the video, or your screen. Your history stays on your Mac. There is no account and no sign-in. Optional iCloud sync mirrors your history through your own private iCloud database, which nobody but you can read. Reminders got faster to write and easier to put off. • Write a reminder in one line — "Water the plants every 3 days at 9" — from the Reminders tab or a hotkey, anywhere on your Mac. • Not now? Pick Later: in 15 minutes, this evening, tomorrow morning, after the weekend. Each choice shows the exact time.
