HOW IT WORKS
Eight rules sit above the board, things like "starts with a vowel" or "has the same letter twice in a row". One of them is the Golden Rule, and the answer always follows it. Your guesses don't have to. That's where it gets interesting.
A guess that follows the rule earns full clues. Green is the right letter in the right spot, and gold is a letter that's in the word but somewhere else. A guess that breaks the rule gets less. Blue tells you a letter is in the word and keeps its position to itself. Every row is tagged "followed" or "broke", so you always know which kind of clue you're reading.
You don't have to track the rules in your head. The board crosses off each rule your guesses have disproven, and tapping a crossed-off rule shows you exactly why it went. When a single rule is left standing, it turns gold. Now go get the word.
YOUR DAILY RUN
The five-letter puzzle is the warm-up. Six letters is where most people slow down, and the seven is the one you'll still be thinking about at lunch. Clear all three for a hat trick. Each length keeps its own streak, so a rough day on seven won't wipe out a good run on five, and your stats show how your solve rate and guess counts move over time.
Stuck? You can watch a short video for a hint, up to two per daily. Missed a day? The archive keeps past puzzles. Done with everything? Fun play hands you fresh rounds for as long as you want them.
PLAY WITH FRIENDS, OR DON'T
Signing in is optional, and everything above works without an account. Sign in with Apple or Google and you get a profile, you can follow friends and cheer their best days in the highlights feed, and you can start a private group with its own leaderboard. The family group chat will never be the same.
EASY ON THE EYES
The look is gold on near-black, calm enough for late-night solving. Colorblind-safe mode adds a mark to every clue tile so color is never the only signal. Reduced motion tones down the animations, and daily reminders are there if you want a nudge.
FREE, WITH ADS
The Golden Rule is free to play and supported by ads. No purchases, no subscriptions, and no banner on the puzzle board. Every daily can be played without watching a single ad.
