Above the board is a riddle or a phrase with words missing. The answer and the missing words are hidden among the letters: find them, and the phrase goes into your book and the next level opens. The further you go, the more words are missing. The rest of the board is paved with snaking words too, with no empty cells, and you can clear it all for stars — the cards under the board tell you how long each word is and what it is worth.
15 BOOKS, 225 PHRASES
Each book is one kind of phrase, fifteen of them:
• Proverbs — the ones everyone half-remembers
• Riddles — the answer is hidden on the board
• Idioms — “spill the beans”, “under the weather”
• Storybook lines — “once upon a time”, “mirror, mirror on the wall”
• Weather lore — “red sky at night, shepherd’s delight”
• Tongue twisters — “she sells sea shells by the seashore”
The phrases you collect stay in the book in full, answers included, ready to read again. All of it is folklore: no author, no rights holder, the kind of thing read aloud.
YOU CANNOT LOSE
No timer. No lives. No “wait three hours or pay”. Take as many turns as you like, think all evening if you want. The first miss on every board is forgiven; after that a wrong trace costs points, your streak and a star — never a life, never a wait.
THREE STARS FOR A CLEAN RUN
Completing the phrase earns one star and opens the next level. Clearing the whole board earns a second, clearing it without a single mistake a third. Finish the board right away or come back later: any level you have passed opens again with your words still in place. Every new star pays coins: you are rewarded for doing better, not for repeating.
DAILY CHALLENGE
One phrase a day, the same for everyone: you and your neighbour get the very same board. Points count double, and your day streak grows as long as you keep coming back.
ARTIFACTS AND HINTS
An artifact fires once: Longhand doubles one word of six letters or more, Vowel choir pays extra for the vowels of one word, Shield absorbs one miss. You can wait for the right moment as long as you like — what spends an artifact is the hit itself. One artifact on every board comes free: which one is down to the draw, and in the daily challenge everybody gets the same.
Hints help: reveal a letter of a key word, light up where a random word lies, double your next find. All of it costs coins the game itself hands out, and after every board the shop is one tap away — but nobody makes you go.
SMUGGLING
Trace a word that is not one of the hidden ones and it still counts, for half its value. The board knows seventy-six thousand words.
WHAT’S FREE
The first three books — 45 levels — and the daily challenge are free forever. The remaining books come with the Full Edition: a single purchase, no subscription. Coins are never sold, only earned in play.
