A line-by-line worksheet with live results, line references, and variables. Three keypads, unit and ECB currency conversion, a command palette, and a pinnable calculator. Better Calc Pro keeps the whole calculation on screen — every line you typed, every value in between, and every input you can still go back and change. WRITE CALCULATIONS LINE BY LINE • Type an expression, press Return, and the result appears beside it while the next line opens. • A dim live preview follows along as you type. • Refer to an earlier result by its line number, such as #3, or double-click a result to insert the reference. • Name a value once — budget = 12000 — and reuse it anywhere. • Change an input and the following worksheet lines recalculate in order. • Pin, annotate, or delete any line. Deleted lines can be undone. THREE KEYPADS, ONE ENGINE • Basic: arithmetic, parentheses, percentages, and ANS for the previous result. • Scientific: trigonometry and inverses, log, ln, log2, log10, powers and roots, factorial, combinations and permutations, constants, and DEG / RAD / GRAD. • Programmer: BIN, OCT, DEC, and HEX shown together, 8/16/32/64-bit widths, signed and unsigned, AND OR XOR NOT NAND NOR XNOR, shifts and rotates, with both the truncated and the original result shown on overflow. RESULTS YOU CAN CHECK Values are held internally as Decimal at full precision and formatted only for display. Copy the displayed value or the full-precision value — the difference is always visible, never silent. ASK IN CHINESE Everyday Chinese phrasings are understood directly, including questions like 120 的 15% 是多少 and date or time arithmetic such as 2026-08-27 + 45 天. Anything unrecognized falls back to ordinary parsing with a clear syntax error. No cloud model is involved, so this works offline. CONVERT UNITS AND CURRENCY • Length, weight, area, volume, temperature, time, data, speed, pressure, energy, power, and more. • Currency uses European Central Bank reference rates. The source, the time of the last update, and whether the figure came from cache are all shown on screen. • Send a conversion into the worksheet at full precision, with a note recording what was converted. A LIBRARY OF FORMULAS 23 built-in formulas across finance, tax, date and time, health, and programming, plus any you write yourself. Insert one to expand its parameter defaults into an editable expression. REACH EVERYTHING FROM THE KEYBOARD ⌘K opens a command palette over pages, actions, and modes. ⌘1 / ⌘2 / ⌘3 switch keypads, ⌘N starts a line, ⌘E expands to the worksheet, ⌘\ toggles the inspector. TWO SMALLER WAYS TO CALCULATE • Quick Calculate drops down from the menu bar or a global hotkey: type, press Return, and the result is copied as the panel closes. Same engine, same history. • Compact mode shrinks the window to a display and a keypad. Pin it on top and it floats above your other apps, fading and passing clicks through until you need it. While pinned it watches the clipboard and appends whatever is arithmetic — a copied 总价：1,234.56 元 becomes 1234.56, while dates, phone numbers, and version strings are ignored. LOCAL BY DEFAULT No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no ads, no trackers. Worksheets, history, variables, and formulas are saved as JSON in the app sandbox container; preferences use UserDefaults. The one network request goes to the exchange-rate service when you open currency conversion or refresh rates, and it carries nothing but the base currency code. HONEST LIMITS Everything stays on this Mac. There is no iCloud sync, no account, and no companion app elsewhere. Exchange rates need a connection the first time; after that the last successful rates are reused and labelled with their timestamp. FREE, NO IN-APP PURCHASES Better Calc Pro is free.
