AI-generated images are often huge. PicCaddy compresses, converts, resizes, and saves clipboard images from Finder—fast, private, and entirely on your Mac.
PicCaddy is a local image utility for Mac that helps you convert PNG files to JPG, compress images to a target size, resize, crop and rotate pictures, remove backgrounds, browse image folders, and clean up unwanted files.
Convert from Finder
Select one or more PNG files in Finder and choose Convert to JPG. PicCaddy saves new JPG files beside the originals, preserves the source files, fills transparent areas with white, and adds a number when a file with the same name already exists.
Paste clipboard images into a folder
Copy an image, then right-click inside a Finder folder and choose Image Tools > Paste Clipboard Image Here. JPG and PNG data are saved without re-encoding, TIFF data is saved as PNG, existing files are never overwritten, and the clipboard remains unchanged.
Compress to a target size
Set a target file size, maximum image dimension, output format, and background color for transparent areas. PicCaddy shows the original and estimated result, batch progress, completed and skipped counts, failures, and space saved. It adjusts JPG quality first and reduces pixel dimensions only when necessary.
Edit multiple images
Resize proportionally, crop a selected area, and rotate PNG or JPG images. Save the current image or export the entire batch. Results are written as new files so the originals remain unchanged.
Remove backgrounds
On macOS 14 or later, create a new PNG with a transparent background using the Finder image tools menu. The original image is preserved.
Browse and clean image folders
Browse images with keyboard navigation, zoom, drag, rotation, thumbnails, and full-screen viewing. The cleanup workspace can filter and sort common image formats by name, dimensions, file size, date, format, orientation, and selection state. Files are moved to the macOS Trash only after confirmation.
Clipboard and folder automation
PicCaddy can automatically convert large PNG image data copied to the clipboard into a smaller JPG. It can also monitor the top level of an authorized folder and process newly created, downloaded, or moved PNG files after they finish writing.
Conversion history and reports
Review Finder, clipboard, and folder-monitoring conversions by date, source, result, or file name. View success rate, space saved, average processing time, and charts, then export the filtered results as CSV or PDF.
Private by design
Image processing runs locally on your Mac and requires no account. Conversion history does not store image contents, thumbnails, full file paths, or extra clipboard data. Folder access is requested through the standard macOS folder selection dialog and saved locally for later use.
