How it works
• Germany, Austria and Switzerland, each labelled, so you always know what kind of German you’re hearing. Swiss German and Austrian German are not an afterthought — each is its own feed with over a thousand clips, and Bavarian and Swabian are there too.
• Real German videos, made for German speakers, not for textbooks.
• A feed graded two ways: by your level, and by how fast people actually speak.
• Smart Subtitles underline the words worth learning — the most common 500, 1,000 and 2,000 words in German — so you can see at a glance which word is worth a tap.
• Tap any word in the captions to see what it means, right there in the sentence.
• Learner insights: each clip comes with a short note on the German worth knowing in it.
Focus mode, the guided way in
New to German? Do not just watch a clip, work it. Focus plays it once with no text, asks how much you caught, then takes it sentence by sentence and word by word until it lands. Tap a word to keep it for review. Prefer to just watch? Flow does that instead.
Start at the beginning and the feed meets you there. It opens with the easiest German it has and speeds up as you do.
Some videos have the subtitles burned into the picture. A normal player cannot take those off the screen. Reelang can. Hide them and you are only listening, not reading.
