Lichtung: Language Reader

Vocabulary That Follows You

Free · In‑App Purchases

Read anywhere in your target language. Tap a word, translate, keep reading. Free on Wikipedia, Pro everywhere else. Lichtung is a language learning app designed to keep you immersed. Grow your language vocabulary organically across any webpage, book or article. Tap a word, see it translated, keep reading: no new library to move into, just the vocabulary you already have, following you everywhere. FEATURES • Highlights every page you visit: blue for a new word, three fading shades of yellow as you're learning it, a dotted underline once it's familiar, clean once it's known or ignored • Tap any word for a translation and status buttons • Works offline: taps queue durably and upload when you're back online • Private by design: the pages you read can be processed entirely on your device • Read your own books and get the same highlighting and tap-to-translate popup, no separate account or setup • See your vocabulary and translations directly in Safari with the built-in extension • Bring your own dictionary: import a StarDict-format dictionary, or use Apple Translate instead of LingQ's translations for a language, entirely offline • Sync with LingQ to share your vocabulary and definitions, or track everything on-device only • Back up and restore your languages whenever you want
