Zapa Player is a player, and nothing else. It includes no channels, no lists, no subscriptions and no catalogue of any kind. It opens empty. To use it you enter the address, username and password of the service you already pay for, over the Xtream Codes protocol. If you do not have one, this app is of no use to you. WHAT IT DOES DIFFERENTLY These are not showy features. They are the places where other players fall apart: • It sends a live channel to a Chromecast TV, and it works. Almost no iPhone app manages that with a live stream: they hand the TV the provider's URL as-is and the receiver cannot read that format. Zapa repackages it on the device itself. • The scrubber on a film actually responds, even when the panel answers range requests badly. • If the picture freezes because the broadcast changed resolution, it asks for the channel again instead of leaving you staring at a still frame. • It closes the previous session before opening the next one when you change channel, which on single-connection lines is the difference between watching something and getting an error. • Lists show what is on now and how far in it is, in rows you can read, instead of a grid of logos that only tells you the name. IPHONE AND IPAD The same app on both, with the big screen genuinely used: on iPad the list, the channel and its schedule all fit at once. FREE, AND COMPLETE One list gives you the whole player: your provider's guide, what is on right now, favourites, recently watched, films and series. No ads, no sign-up, no account. THE FULL VERSION A yearly subscription or a one-off payment, whichever you prefer. Either one adds: • The full schedule: what comes next, on every channel. • Remind me when it starts, with a real system notification. • The stitched guide: many channels arrive with no schedule, and Zapa looks for one in open sources and stitches it onto your list. • Several lists at once, switching between them without typing anything again. • My channels: hide the categories you never watch, reorder the ones you do, and build your own groups. • Search the whole guide for a programme by name. • Send to a TV. • Picture in picture: keep watching the channel while you do something else. • Keep playing with the screen off, with its control on the lock screen to stop it. ONE THING TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BUY When casting to a TV, iOS requires Zapa to stay open with the screen on: the system does not let an app keep serving the video in the background. We say it here and we say it inside the app too. PRIVACY No ads, no analytics, no trackers. Your service details are stored encrypted on your device and are never sent anywhere. Fixed a serious bug on iPhone: tapping a category, Films or Series opened nothing, leaving the whole catalogue out of reach. It now opens where it should and shows the channels.
