Nurture reminds you when your plants need care, and tells you what each one needs. The reminders ask nothing of you first: no account, no sign-up, no card. They work the moment you open the app.
Your plants, photos, and history stay on your phone. The only photo that ever leaves it is one you choose to send to identify a plant. Nurture counts which features get used, anonymously and never with your account, so I can tell what is worth building next. You can turn that off in Settings.
Add a plant, choose what it needs and how often, and Nurture takes it from there. It reminds you at the time you picked. Mark it done, and the next reminder schedules itself.
WHAT YOU CAN DO

KNOW WHAT YOUR PLANT ACTUALLY NEEDS
Plant apps that tell you what a plant needs usually charge for it. This one does not.
Choose your plant's species when you add it and you get a written guide to it: where it grows in the wild, how it behaves in a living room, what light and water it wants, and what to do about repotting, pruning and cleaning the leaves.
The advice comes with its conditions attached, because an interval on its own is wrong half the year. "Every seven days" means one thing on a south-facing sill in July and something else in a cold room in January, or in a pot two sizes too big. So the guide tells you what to actually look at: how far down the soil is dry, the weight of the pot, what the newest leaf is doing. Then you can judge it yourself.
It covers the plants people keep at home, including the ones that punish a sensible guess. Orchids that will not flower again without a cold autumn. Cacti that want nothing at all from November to March. Venus flytraps that are killed by tap water rather than by neglect.
Nothing sits behind a subscription. Your plants, reminders and history work with no connection at all. Opening a guide page needs one the first time, after which it is kept on your device, and new plants can be added to the guide without you updating the app. Identifying a plant needs a connection too.
Nurture only ever suggests. It never changes a schedule you set.
IDENTIFY A PLANT FROM A PHOTO
Not sure what you have? Take a photo, and Nurture suggests what the plant is and opens its page in the guide, so you can add it with the right care from the start. It says how sure it is, and when a look-alike cannot be ruled out, it shows you that one too.
Identifying plants needs a free account, made with Apple or Google, and gives you 3 a month. Everything else works without one. Signing in does not move your plants anywhere: they stay on your phone, and signing out leaves them where they are. Nurture does not keep the photo.
YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS
Nurture can save everything into a single backup file: plants, schedules, history, and photos. You choose where it goes, whether that's a folder on your phone, your cloud drive, or wherever you like. Restore it on a new phone and it all comes back, photos included.
Nothing is uploaded on your behalf. A backup happens only when you ask for one, and goes only where you send it.
REMINDERS THAT KEEP WORKING
Reminders arrive when the app is closed, and with no connection at all. Open Nurture after restarting your phone and anything the restart disturbed is put back.
