View formatted MD files without opening an app: with spaceMD, a single press of the space bar shows your MD document with all its formatting. spaceMD displays Markdown files the way they are meant to be read: formatted, clear, and right on your Mac. The name is the gesture: select a Markdown file in Finder and press the space bar. spaceMD adds a formatted Quick Look preview for headings, lists, tables, task lists, quotes, links, footnotes, and code blocks. For longer documents, open the dedicated viewer with search and a clickable outline. The viewer keeps up with your file. If you edit the text in another app, the open document updates automatically. Adjust the text size, switch between System, Newspaper, and Terminal themes, print a document, or save it as a PDF. Multiple files can be opened in tabs. The details are readable too. Code blocks include syntax highlighting for common programming languages. YAML metadata at the beginning of a document becomes a quiet header with its title, date, and tags. spaceMD can include local images after you explicitly grant access to their folder. spaceMD is intentionally not an editor. It opens documents for reading and never modifies them. Your documents stay on your Mac and are processed locally for display. spaceMD requires no account and includes no advertising or analytics SDK. spaceMD is free and the viewer is fully included. The formatted preview in Finder is unlocked with a single purchase, no subscription. Until then, the space bar in Finder shows plain text, exactly what macOS shows without spaceMD.
