Mac
Design sealed, vented, passive radiator, bandpass and transmission-line speaker cabinets. Live curves, DSP filter chain, biquad export — built for the Mac.
SpeakerLab simulates loudspeaker enclosures from Thiele/Small parameters — sealed, vented, passive radiator, bandpass, and true one-dimensional transmission lines. See SPL, impedance, excursion, port velocity and group delay respond live while you adjust the design, then verify the built cabinet against real measurements.
EVERY ENCLOSURE TYPE THAT MATTERS
• Sealed and vented boxes with the classic three-loss model, end corrections and port air-velocity warnings
• Passive radiators with separate diaphragm excursion — usually the real limit
• 4th-order bandpass with independent chamber losses
• Transmission lines as a proper transfer-matrix model: straight, tapered, expanding or stepped, with per-segment stuffing (Delany–Bazley/Miki), offset driver positions for MLTLs, and a live cross-section preview
BUILT ON REAL PHYSICS
Responses are computed from the full electro-mechanical network — semi-inductance voice-coil model, radiation loading, complex summation of cone and port output — never from alignment tables. The solver is validated against closed-form alignments to a fraction of a percent.
DSP FILTER CHAIN
Place filters in front of the simulation: subsonic high-pass, EQ, shelves, all-pass, delay, and a Linkwitz transform that pre-fills from your sealed box. Because the chain acts on the drive signal, excursion and headroom follow automatically — you see what a bass boost really costs. Export the chain as biquad coefficients (text, C header or JSON) with prewarped, stability-checked values that match the simulation.
CLOSES THE LOOP WITH MEASUREMENT
Import measured FRD, ZMA and CSV curves and overlay them against the simulation. Fit box losses or transmission-line stuffing directly from a measured impedance sweep — then trust the model for the variants you never built. Reads .ameas measurement bundles from its companion apps SweepLab and ampMeasure.
A REAL MAC APP
• Documents with autosave; projects are plain JSON packages that diff cleanly under version control
• Compare any number of design variants with live overlaid charts and a linked cursor
• Paste driver parameters straight from a datasheet
• Export FRD, ZMA, CSV and chart images in light or dark theme
• Fast native solver — full sweeps in milliseconds, no lag while dragging
DESIGNED FOR
Speaker builders, DIY audio enthusiasts, and audio engineers who want honest low-frequency modelling: small-signal enclosure simulation done right. No crossover design, no room simulation — one job, done properly.
SpeakerLab is part of a suite with SweepLab (acoustic measurement) and ampMeasure (impedance measurement), together covering the full design → build → measure → refine workflow.
