Ottomino

The same grid for everyone

Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

One 8×8 board, the same for the whole world, every day. Three attempts, the best one counts. Leaderboards for your town and arenas with friends, each with its #hashtag. Ottomino is a block puzzle with one rule that changes everything: every day the whole world gets the same 8×8 grid and the same sequence of pieces, and everyone has a single attempt. That is why scores can actually be compared. HOW IT PLAYS • 8×8 grid, three pieces in hand at a time. • Pieces cannot be rotated: placement is the whole game. • A full row or column clears; several lines at once, or on consecutive moves, build the multiplier. • The run ends when none of the three pieces fits anywhere. • No timer: this is spatial logic, not speed. A game lasts three to five minutes. THREE WAYS TO PLAY • Daily challenge — one grid, the same for everyone, one attempt. It resets at midnight UTC. At the end you get your percentile, a rank from Wood to Grandmaster, and your position among the people who played near you. • Training — no limits, your own record is the opponent. • Groups — a private group joined by code or link: everybody plays the identical round and the app ranks the group. THE ZONE ARENA No global list of strangers: the app looks for the smallest ring around you containing at least five real people — town, 10 km, 25 km, province, region, country. It widens on its own until it finds them, so it is never empty and never anonymous. AI players are always labelled as such and are never counted as people. IN PRACTICE • Free. One full-screen ad when a run ends, never during play, and no ads at all for players under 16. • No account, no email, no login. • Every game can be replayed move by move. • Eight languages: Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish. • iPhone and iPad: on a tablet in landscape the board and the pieces sit side by side. The name comes from otto, Italian for eight: eight columns, eight rows.

Arenas: that is what groups are called now, and each one has its own #hashtag, chosen when you create it and shown everywhere, invite included. Timed sessions: whoever creates the arena picks how long each session lasts, from 1 to 24 hours. The clock starts with the first match played by a person, the arena shows how long is left, and when time is up the session closes by itself: the winner gets a notification and the next session is already open. Anyone still playing finishes their match. Public arenas: make your arena public and anyone can find it with "Search for an arena", by #hashtag or by name, and join with one tap. Private ones still work with a code, a link or an invite. Official arenas carry a badge. Arena settings for its creator: name, hashtag, session length and visibility. A winner only with at least two scores: nobody wins alone. The total: the sum of your best score in every daily challenge, which never resets. You see it on the result screen and at home, it has its own board (world or country, all-time or this month, people only), and on Sunday a notification tells you where you stand. Region only: in your profile you can pick your region instead of your town and compete at region and country level. A link can also open the daily challenge with your zone already set. A new home: the logo on top, the Daily Challenge front and centre with today's first three pieces and a board that plays by itself, your arenas in one line, Record and Practice side by side, the bell top right and a bar fixed at the bottom of every page: home, leaderboard, arenas, profile, settings. Buttons now make a sound, under the Sounds switch. Plus a fourth look, Sorbetto: coral, mint, violet and sunflower.
