The Carbonara Tales is a pixel platformer that plays with your nerves. An absurdly brutal, story-driven retro arcade game that tricks you every chance it gets.
You won't see the trap coming. But fall for it once, and you'll remember it for a long time. There's no such thing as a throwaway run here: you map this place out with your own deaths.
You play as a sweet capybara with a tangerine on its head, wandering through five deceptively cozy worlds. They look warm and welcoming. That's a lie.
NO LIVES. NO ENERGY. NO MERCY.
The Aura counter is unforgiving: every mistake sends it deeper into the negative. Fail a thousand times, and the game will remember every single death. Something to brag about to your friends. No paid continues, no waiting timers, no sweet second chances. Failure here is free and endless.
A CONSOLE IN YOUR HANDS
This isn't your usual game interface: you play inside the CAPY-8, a handheld console with a CRT screen. On its mini display, the capybara reacts to everything you do: it blinks, yawns, gets scared and laughs.
40 TO 75 SECONDS PER LEVEL
Short, tight runs without a single wasted second. Pure reflexes, razor-thin timing and a countdown to your next mistake. Just right for one attempt while the kettle boils, or for an hour that disappears before you notice.
MAKE THE RUN YOURS
• Speedrun mode: times for every level, a history of your best runs and a live comparison with your personal best
• Legendary skins: restyle the whole console, not just the hero, from the shell and buttons to decals and mini-screen animations
• Strange drawings on the death screen: new ones unlock as you progress
• Portrait and landscape modes, an adjustable CRT effect, haptics and a virtual joystick
There are no shortcuts. Progress is earned with patience, cold logic and nerves of steel.
