Faster, smoother visuals — and a big difference on older Apple TVs. New • The visualiser runs considerably faster on every Apple TV. The improvement is largest on the 2017 model, where several styles were previously running at a fraction of their proper speed. • Bringing up the on-screen controls no longer slows the visuals down while they are showing. • The control panels have a cleaner, higher-contrast look that stays readable over bright album art. Still to come • The visuals take a few seconds to reach full speed after you start them. • Moving around the pop-up menus is still a little slow on the 2017 Apple TV.

New • Visuals now move in time with the music. Every visualisation locks to the song's tempo instead of running near it, so what's on screen and what you're hearing line up. If you preferred the old motion, turn it off under Settings, Visualizations, Motion speed. • Settings now explains what Last.fm is for: it's a free account, and it's how Theatrium follows along when you're playing through Spotify, or through Apple Music without a subscription. There's a step-by-step guide at theatrium.info. • Your Last.fm username is now saved deliberately, with a Save button, and shown back to you afterwards with a Change button to edit it. • Settings shows the app version, bottom left. Fixed • Apple Music could fail to launch on some Apple IDs. Fixed. • The two colours behind the album art no longer blend into a third colour through the middle. They now hand off cleanly, and the whole picture is smoother, brighter and reaches the edges of the screen. • In Last.fm mode, album art was missing entirely for any track Last.fm has no cover for, which is most of them these days. Theatrium now finds the artwork itself. • Last.fm could also show the previous album's cover on a run of tracks it had no artwork for, so you'd see one album's cover labelled as another. • The app icon and top shelf artwork now use the real Theatrium logo. • Song and artist names, and the label naming each button, stay readable against the brighter background. • When the controls fade and you pick the remote up again, you're returned to the button you were last on, including the playback controls.
