Plug a USB stick or SSD into your iPhone. No PC, no cloud. My Photo Copy copies your originals and reads every file back to prove it arrived. My Photo Copy makes one safe copy of your photos and videos on a drive you own. Plug in a USB-C stick, an SSD or an SD card reader — or pick any folder in Files, including On My iPhone. Choose what to copy. Tap Start. My Photo Copy writes your originals to the drive, then reads every file back off the drive to check that it arrived. Nothing is uploaded. No account, no server, no subscription standing between you and your photos. WHAT IT DOES • Copies originals, untouched. HEIC, JPEG, PNG, RAW, MOV, 4K video — the same file the camera wrote, with its date, location and metadata intact. Nothing is recompressed. Nothing is renamed. • Keeps Live Photos whole. The still and its video are copied as a pair. • Fetches iCloud originals first. If Optimise iPhone Storage left only a small version on the phone, My Photo Copy downloads the full original before copying it. Start a big backup on Wi-Fi. • Checks every file. After a file is written it is read back off the drive and its SHA-256 compared with the data your iPhone sent, and its size checked against the size your photo library reports for the original. Both have to match before a file counts as verified. • Tells you the truth at the end. "18,420 originals verified" — and every file that could not be copied, listed by name and reason. Never a bare "Done". • Picks up where it stopped. Unplug the drive, take a call, come back tomorrow. The next run continues; what is already on the drive is not copied again. • Copies only what is new. Run it again next month and it writes the difference. WHAT LANDS ON THE DRIVE Ordinary folders and ordinary files, sorted by the date each photo was taken: 2024/07/IMG_4231.HEIC That is all. Plug the drive into any computer and your photos are simply there — no app needed, not even this one. A plain HTML page next to the folders lists what was copied and when. Getting photos back means plugging the drive into a computer and copying the year folders. There is no restore feature in the app yet; there is nothing to restore from, because the files were never packed into anything. THINGS WORTH KNOWING BEFORE YOU START • A big backup needs the app on screen. iOS suspends apps in the background, so a first run over a large library should be done with the phone plugged in and My Photo Copy in front. It pauses when you leave and continues when you come back. • One drive is one copy. Keep a second copy somewhere else. This app gives you a copy that is yours; it does not replace off-site backup. • Connectors. iPhone 15 and later have USB-C. Earlier iPhones need a Lightning to USB adapter. Some SSDs and hard drives need their own power or a powered hub. • Full photo access is required. iOS Limited Access hands apps a preview, not the original file — there would be nothing to copy and nothing to verify.
