Your whole reading list, offline. Corante downloads each article as it arrives and keeps it on your device — readable and searchable with no network at all. Corante is a news reader for people who would rather not be measured. Follow any site that publishes a feed — newspapers, blogs, magazines, a friend's website — and read everything in one timeline, in the order you choose, without an algorithm deciding what you see. PRIVATE BY ARCHITECTURE, NOT BY PROMISE Corante has no server. Your subscriptions and reading history live in your own private iCloud database, which belongs to your Apple Account. The developer cannot read it, and never receives it. Your devices fetch feeds directly from the publishers, the same way a browser would. Nothing is relayed through anyone in between, because there is no in between. There is no account to create, no email address to hand over, and no password to forget. Install it and start reading. SYNCS EVERYWHERE, SILENTLY Add a feed on your Mac and it is on your iPhone before you pick it up. Read an article on the train and it is marked read on your iPad at home. Star something on your Apple Watch and it is waiting for you later. CLEAN READING Most feeds give you two lines and a link. Corante fetches the article and extracts the text, so you read the piece rather than the page it was buried in. Articles render with JavaScript switched off, which removes every analytics beacon, tracking pixel and consent wall in one step. SEARCH EVERYTHING YOU HAVE READ Corante indexes the full text of every article on your device as it arrives. Search finds words from the middle of a piece, not just its headline, and it works with no network connection — the index is yours, on your device. BUILT FOR MORE THAN ENGLISH Text direction is resolved per article rather than per app, so a right-to-left headline and a left-to-right one sit correctly in the same list. The article decides, not your device. THREE WAYS TO READ Compact for scanning a lot quickly. Cards for a balance of headline and image. Mosaic for a magazine feel, with headlines set over the artwork. Two looks, each with its own light and dark: Modern, or Newsprint — warm paper, sepia ink and serif type throughout. BRING YOUR SUBSCRIPTIONS Import an OPML file from any other reader and pick up where you left off. Export it whenever you like. Your list is yours to take elsewhere. FINDING THINGS TO READ You do not need to hunt for a feed address. Type a publication's name and Corante checks its own built-in list of well-known sources, then tries the website itself — both without asking anyone else. An optional online lookup is there if you want it, switched off until you say otherwise. ON EVERY SCREEN YOU OWN iPhone and iPad. A proper three-column Mac app with keyboard shortcuts. his update fixes problems found in the first release. • On Mac, the window could stop responding to clicks after you opened an article, with relaunching the only way out. Fixed. • Offline reading now works as intended. Articles are downloaded in full as they arrive, and Settings → Offline shows a live count of how many are ready to read. • Article images are kept for offline reading and stored at a size suited to a thumbnail rather than a billboard, so a list still looks like a list with no network. • The downloader is gentler on publishers. An article that was temporarily refused is now tried again later instead of being given up on. • Cached images can be cleared from Settings → Offline.
