Every word must begin with the letter the last one ended on. That is the whole rule, and it is the last simple thing about it. The clock is running. A longer word scores more. A rarer word scores more still. A streak multiplies everything — and every word you get right shaves a little more time off the next turn, so a good run gets harder precisely because it is going well. Every valid word buys more of it. 168,310 WORDS, ALL OF THEM OFFLINE The entire dictionary ships inside the app. No word lookup ever touches the network, so LASTWORD works on a plane, in a tunnel, and on a phone with no signal — and it answers the instant you press GO. AND IT TELLS YOU WHAT THEY MEANT Over 100,000 of those words carry a real definition, drawn from Open English WordNet. When a run ends you get your chain back with the meaning of every word you played and how common it was: COMMON, FAMILIAR, UNCOMMON, RARE. Most word games take your word and move on. This one hands it back with something in it. EARN YOUR WAY OUT OF TROUBLE String words together and you earn a card. • SKIP — refuse the letter and take another • FREEZE — stop the clock • HINT — buy three words that would have worked TWENTY LEVELS The better you get, the less time you get. Level 1 opens at twenty seconds a turn. By level 20 the clock has reached its floor and stays there. DEAD ENDS PAY Land on a letter almost nothing starts with and the game hands it to you free — and pays a bonus for getting there.
