Tepi puts every tado° room in one place.
If your home mixes tado° V3+ and tado° X — or spreads them across two tado°
accounts, as mixed households often end up doing — you know the problem: two
apps, or endless switching between homes to change one radiator. Tepi shows them
all in a single list, with the same controls, and never asks which generation
you meant.
LOCAL FIRST
Changes go straight to the valve over HomeKit. Under a second, no round trip
through anyone's servers, and they keep working when your internet is down.
The tado° cloud is used for the things HomeKit doesn't carry: matching rooms to
their tado° identity, device health, the day-by-day history for V3+, handing a
room back to its tado° schedule, and reaching your home when you're away. That
last one matters without a HomePod or Apple TV, because HomeKit alone only
reaches your thermostats on the home network.
WHAT'S IN IT
• Every room, both generations, all accounts, unified — with current
temperature, target, humidity and whether the radiator is actually heating
• Instant control: drag the bar, nudge by half a degree, Boost, Off, or turn
the whole house down in one tap
• Favourites, custom names, hidden rooms and drag-to-reorder — essential when a
bridge dumps every valve into "Default Room" with a serial number for a name
• One tap to hand a room — or the whole house — back to tado°, undoing any
temperature you're holding
• Room history for tado° V3+, measured by the thermostat and kept by tado°, so
it's complete whether or not the app was open (tado° publishes none for X)
• Battery, firmware and connectivity for every device, across both generations
WHAT IT NEEDS
Your tado° devices have to be visible in Apple's Home app. For tado° V3+ that
means the Internet Bridge you already own — no hub required.
tado° X uses Matter over Thread, so it needs Thread connectivity in your home.
Depending on your Apple devices and their software that can come from a HomePod,
an Apple TV, a third-party Thread border router, or in some cases a Thread-capable
iPhone. Tepi explains what's missing during setup and points you at Apple's
current guidance rather than guessing for you.
Home Assistant users can expose their devices through its HomeKit Bridge, though
for tado° V3+ pairing the Internet Bridge directly is simpler and more reliable.
PRIVACY
Tepi has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no tracking and no ads. Control
runs locally through HomeKit. Your tado° data goes from tado° to your phone and
nowhere else, and nothing is collected in the background — there is nothing to
leak or sell.
The one thing that ever reaches the developer is a support email, if you write
one. You can attach a short summary of your setup to it; it's off unless you turn
it on, and you see every word first.
FREE, AND DELIBERATELY SMALL
Version 1.0 does a few things and does them properly. No subscription, no ads,
no in-app purchases. It's built by one person who got tired of switching between
two apps to heat one house, and what it needs now is people using it and saying
what's wrong: hello@tepiapp.com.
Tepi complements the tado° app rather than replacing it: installation,
firmware and account changes stay there.

Ratings & Reviews

The Devices list now names each row by room instead of by a device code, so a
house with a dozen valves is readable at a glance.
Firmware now says where the number came from. The same valve can report one
version to HomeKit and a different one to tado°, and both screens were simply
calling it "Firmware".
If your Home app has a heating device Tepi can't read yet, it now says so
instead of telling you there are no thermostats in your home.
