Fixes, from a careful read of the whole app. Bringing in a long diary, and the first iCloud sync on a new iPhone, both arrive in batches — and Quill was rebuilding the whole calendar once for every batch. Now the batches are gathered up and the work happens once, so importing and syncing stay out of your way. Search also notices entries as they arrive from iCloud, instead of waiting until the next time you open the app. An entry that is only a voice note used to show up in the list as "(photos only)", with no sign of what was inside. It now says what it holds, and the card counts recordings the way it counts photos. A share card set to "Date only" no longer carries the mood out with it — date only means date only. Your notebooks now survive the round trip: export your diary, import it back, and every entry returns to the notebook it was in. Imports from Apple Journal bring their photos again. An entry with only a mood or a tag can be saved instead of being treated as empty. And when an import cannot finish, it says so and says how far it got, rather than reporting success. Some damaged or hand-made files could close the app on the import preview screen. They cannot any more.

Six new things, and one long-standing problem fixed. DRAW A PAGE BY HAND (Pro) Sketch with a finger or a Pencil. A drawing keeps its strokes, so you can open it later and carry on rather than start again. RECORD A VOICE NOTE (Pro) Up to five notes an entry, five minutes each. They stay inside the entry — on your iPhone and, if you use it, your own iCloud. SCAN A PAPER PAGE (Pro) Point the camera at a page from a paper notebook and Quill reads the writing into the entry. It shows you what it read and lets you fix it before anything is added. SHARE AN ENTRY AS A CARD (Pro) A picture of a page, for the times you want to show one. It starts with no words at all — just the date — and you choose how much more to include. Photos are never in the card. MORE THAN ONE MOOD (Pro) A day is rarely one feeling. THIRTEEN LANGUAGES Quill now speaks English, Tiếng Việt, 日本語, 한국어, 繁體中文, Deutsch, Français, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Português, Türkçe and العربية. You can change it inside the app. FASTER WHERE IT WAS SLOW Long entries — the kind you get after pasting an article — no longer stall the editor while you scroll or type. The measuring that made it slow is done once now instead of on every frame. BRINGING A BACKUP HOME Importing your own export now restores entry titles and voice notes as well — whether or not you have Pro. Everything that makes Quill usable stays free: writing, the lock, iCloud backup, export and import.
