Toniz is a sound level meter built for people who work with sound, not only for people curious about it.
It shows the number and the spectrum at the same time: the weighted level, and a real-time analyzer in 1/1 or 1/3 octave bands. When you stop measuring, you get a report you can keep.
MEASUREMENT
• dBA, dBC and dBZ weighting (IEC 61672 curves)
• Fast (125 ms) and Slow (1 s) time weighting
• Leq energy average, not an arithmetic mean — a loud passage counts as loud
• Peak, L10 and L90
• Bass load (dBC - dBA): how much low end dBA is hiding from you
REAL-TIME ANALYZER
• 1/1 octave (10 bands) or 1/3 octave (31 bands)
• Peak hold on every band
• Dominant tone read to ±1 Hz — a 600 Hz tone vanishes inside the 500 Hz band, so it is read separately
• Harmonic series shown when a source cannot produce the fundamental you asked it for
• Turn the phone sideways for the full 31-band view
EXPOSURE
• Daily noise dose against the NIOSH criterion (85 dBA for 8 h, 3 dB exchange rate)
• How long you can stay at the current level
• Threshold alert with haptic feedback — you feel it without watching the screen
AFTER THE SHOW
• Save a measurement: level over time, frequency profile, dose ring, peak moment
• Overlay a saved session as a reference — last night against tonight, in one look
• Share the report as text
CALIBRATION
A phone microphone is not a measurement microphone, and two phones can read a few dB apart for the same sound. Match Toniz once against a real meter and readings on your device become reliable. Until you do, the app tells you on screen instead of pretending otherwise.
PRIVACY
No audio is recorded. Sound is analyzed in real time and discarded immediately. Nothing leaves your device. No ads, no account, no tracking.
