FirstDrop 2.1 warns you about more than rain. Personal alerts: frost, slippery roads, snow, strong gusts, heat, lightning nearby, and a heads-up when the rain stops. You choose which ones you want, and the thresholds for wind, heat and lightning. Commute alerts: half an hour before you leave, you hear when rain will hit your trip and when to go instead to stay dry. Add where you are going and the trip back, and get a heads-up at 20:00 the evening before if tomorrow's trip looks wet. Plan a day: pick a date up to ten days out and the hours that matter. You hear the evening before, and again if the forecast turns. Tap a saved place to see how much rain fell there over the last day, week, month and year. While it rains, the map finds the next dry stretch for a run or a walk. The forecast shows the most likely weather. Each model counts for as much as it has matched the rain the radar measured, and the app tells you how sure it is. The radar can play back the last 48 hours. Lightning now covers the whole of the Nordic countries and the Baltics. FirstDrop now speaks Dutch, and in Austria and Switzerland the German follows local spelling and dates. Choose your language on its own screen in Settings. The alerts, commutes, plans, rain history and forecast above are part of FirstDrop Premium. Rain alerts, the radar and severe weather warnings stay free.

When there is no video to show, the app now says so and lets you close the sheet. Before, it simply disappeared.

The radar now shows how hard it is raining everywhere it reaches. That was limited to the Nordics before. Both curves letter their scale, the scrubber names the band, and the peak and total are stated on the map. Outside the Nordics the figure comes from the European radar composite, which can read high, so take it as an estimate. The rain countdown on your lock screen now ends when the rain has passed. It used to stay there for hours with no way to clear it. A countdown that starts while the phone is locked also carries the full chart now, the same one the app draws. The radar loads much faster, and the timeline keeps moving when a weather service is slow to answer. Graphs no longer disappear while the app is fetching, and your saved places are ready when you open it.

The radar now covers Europe. Outside the Nordics it shows when the rain arrives, but not how hard it will fall: standing behind that number takes a national radar, and we only have one in the Nordics. We would rather say nothing than something we cannot back. The app speaks German. The system dialogs asking for location and motion were in English in every language. They are translated now.

The app could not open on iOS 27. It closed itself immediately. That is fixed. Forecast sometimes opened blank, and you had to switch tabs and back to get it. That no longer happens. Cloudburst alerts refused to turn on without saying why. Now it says whether the subscription is missing or something else is. Alerts tells you when notifications are off. Saved places are watched all along, but nothing can reach you until you allow them.

The widget, lock screen and watch now show the full two hours ahead — not just the first 40 minutes. It is the same curve as inside the app, so all four finally agree. Outside Denmark the app now names the right national weather authority when it passes on an official warning, instead of crediting DMI everywhere.
