Point your iPhone out of a window or across a garden and the sun's path for any day of the year is drawn over the live camera view: where it rises, where it sets, and where it is at any hour you scrub to. Drag the date from January to July and watch the arc climb. The question you came with, "does this room get afternoon sun in winter", is answered while you are still standing in it.
