Chinamax is now Yiju (一句, "one line"). A thousand sayings, every one recorded and cited. Today's is free forever: read it, hear it, learn its story.
One Chinese saying a day, or as many as you want. Read it, hear it, and learn the story behind it.
Yiju opens on the day's saying, set the way it deserves: the characters large, the pinyin beneath them, the English translation, and the person who said it. Two minutes on a poster worth looking at - and when two minutes isn't enough, keep scrolling.
NOT A FLASHCARD. A PAGE.
Tap the pinyin and hear the Chinese read aloud. All 1,000 sayings are recorded in Mandarin, not synthesised on the fly.
THEN THE STORY BEHIND IT
Swipe once and the saying opens into the passage it came from, in the original and in translation, with a note on what it actually meant and how it gets used.
CHARACTER BY CHARACTER
A breakdown gives every character its own reading and gloss, so a line you liked becomes a line you can partly read.
SIMPLIFIED OR TRADITIONAL
One switch, everywhere: the poster, the story, the widget, the notification. Pinyin and audio are the same in both.
1,000 SAYINGS, EVERY ONE CITED
From Confucius, Laozi and Sun Tzu to Li Bai, Lu Xun and Bruce Lee, with nearly three hundred chengyu and the everyday proverbs people actually say. Each is drawn from a verifiable, out-of-copyright text and cited to the work and the chapter it came from.
BROWSE BY WHAT YOU NEED
By topic, twenty-six of them from patience to strategy, or by who said it: the schools of thought, the poets, the statesmen, the generals, the proverbs.
MAKE IT YOURS
Twenty-four themes, each a photograph or a pattern with its own ink, its own Chinese face and its own Latin face. Twelve app icons: chalk, seal script, jade, gold. Widgets for the Home Screen and the Lock Screen.
SHARE IT AS A CARD
Any saying becomes a card in your theme, ready for Instagram Stories, Messages or anywhere else, framed for where it is going. And reminders, from once a day to ten, inside the hours you choose, on the days you choose — free on every tier, because a habit shouldn't be the paid part.
IT KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT YOU
No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no tracking, no ads. Your favourites, your history and your settings are written to your iPhone and stay there. Nothing is sent anywhere, because there is nowhere to send it.
FREE, AND THERE'S A PRO
Today's saying, its audio, its breakdown and your reminders are free forever, along with a set of themes and icons. Yiju Pro opens the full archive, the story behind every saying, all twenty-four themes and all twelve icons, and the new sayings and themes added over time.
Lifetime is $19.99 once and never renews. Yearly is $14.99 a year, billed through your Apple Account and renewing until cancelled; manage or cancel it in Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions. Prices are in US dollars; Apple sets the equivalent in your region.
Yiju was called Chinamax until October 2026. Same app, same sayings; your favourites, history and purchases carry over.
