KartBrain opens the telemetry files from your AiM MyChron lap timer directly on your phone. Drivers, mechanics and race engineers read a session as they come back to the pits, without getting a laptop out. WHAT THE APP DOES • Opens .xrk, .xrz and .hrz files from a MyChron, with no prior conversion • Shows lap times, with the best lap highlighted • Tells full laps apart from out-laps and in-laps, which don't compare with the others • Compares up to three laps, from the same session or from different sessions • Numbers the corners of the track and names them in its verdicts • Keeps the service log of your engines from the files you load • Gives a verdict on the integrity of the recording COMPARE LAPS Pick up to three laps: the app overlays their racing lines seen from above, their speed, RPM and exhaust temperature curves, and plots the time gap of each one against the reference lap. Slide your finger along a curve: a shared cursor moves across all the others, shows each lap's value and places the karts on the track, at the same point of the circuit. Laps are aligned on DISTANCE travelled, not on time: twelve seconds apart, two drivers are not at the same place on the track at the same second. CORNERS, NOT METRES The corners of the layout are detected and numbered as on a track map. The hundred-metre stretch where time is lost is not just given in metres: it is named by its corner, and highlighted on the map. KEEP YOUR BEST LAPS The best lap of each session is set aside automatically, with its star. You keep others with one gesture, then compare laps from different days — the same track in June and in August, without reopening the original files. If the chosen laps don't come from the same track, the app says so rather than letting you read a comparison that makes no sense. THE ENGINE LOG A two-stroke gets a new piston within a few hours of running. The app counts those hours in your files — the time the engine is turning — and assigns them to the engine. It tells you how many hours since the last piston, how many remain before the next one, where the con rod stands (every other piston), and keeps a dated history of each engine's sessions. Loading the same file twice only counts its hours once. If you run several karts, each MyChron unit is recognised and can be given the name you use in the workshop. THE INTEGRITY VERDICT A telemetry file can be cut short or incomplete without anything saying so: a tool then shows a partial analysis with the same confidence as a complete one. KartBrain checks what it decoded — expected channels against channels read, channel duration against GPS duration, truncated end — and tells you before you read a lap time. It separates what calls the analysis into question from what is merely worth knowing: a warning that goes off on every file no longer warns of anything. DECODED ON THE DEVICE Decoding happens on your phone. Your files are never analysed remotely; only the vault of the paid plans keeps them online, for your other devices. A free account is required the first time you open the app (e-mail and six-digit code, no password). After that, the app works in a paddock with no network. No usage statistics. THE DECODER AiM's .xrk format is not publicly documented. KartBrain relies on an open-source decoder, written in Rust, checked file by file against an independent reference implementation — channels, values, timestamps, laps.
