A simple app to help you learn 1000 of the most common words in 10 different languages. No subscription, no ads, works offline. Swipe through the words and learn! Know 1000 words, and a language starts to make sense. 1000 Words gives you a deck of 1000 of the most common words in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Arabic — each language's own words, in its own order, not an English list translated — and one job: learn them, and keep an honest count of how many you know. SWIPE TO LEARN Cards in learning order, so every session starts with the words that matter most. Tap to reveal the meaning, swipe right if you know it, left if you don't. Words you miss come back later in the session. HEAR EVERY WORD Tap Listen on any card, list entry or quiz answer to hear it spoken with the voices built into your iPhone, at normal or slow speed. Pinyin, romaji, romanization and vowelled Arabic are shown so you can read every word from day one. REVIEW THAT KEEPS IT HONEST Marking a word known schedules a check for tomorrow. Each success stretches the next check further out — 3, 7, 14, 30 days and beyond — and a miss brings the word straight back. Quizzes pull the overdue words first, in both directions, so your number stays real. FORMS AND CONTEXT Related forms are taught with the word (je and moi, bitte and danke), and the opening cards of every language come with a short example sentence you can read and hear. More examples arrive with each update. IN YOUR LANGUAGE Use the app in English or in any of the ten languages — menus, meanings and reminders follow, and English becomes a deck to learn when your own language is one of the ten. Arabic runs right-to-left. SIMPLE ON PURPOSE - Every language included, one price, no subscription - Works completely offline - No account, no ads, no data collection — your progress stays on your phone - Optional once-a-day reminder and a daily streak Not a full course — no grammar lessons. Just the fastest honest way to get the 1000 words that unlock everything else.

  • This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.

-Mark what you know. Already speak some of it? Tick off fifty words a page instead of swiping past hundreds you already have — from first launch, or any language screen. The reviews that creates spread over the coming weeks instead of all landing tomorrow. -Your order. Drag the home tiles wherever you want them. -About each language. Every language screen now opens on a short profile: who speaks it, how it is written, and the two or three things that will actually shape the learning. -How it works. A new section in Settings, including why words you have marked known keep coming back. -Grammar words that say something. Mandarin, Japanese and Korean particles and counters now give a meaning and an example instead of a category name: 个 counts almost anything, as in 三个人, three people. 83 cards rewritten, in all eleven languages.
