You were going to scroll anyway. First just asks for a few push-ups, a made bed or a walk around the block before you do. Then your apps are all yours.
You have time. That's sort of the problem.
You were going to do push-ups. After this video. Clean the kitchen. After one more scroll. Go outside. In a minute.
First changes the order. It blocks the apps you choose until you've done one small thing you actually meant to do. Then they're all yours. No lecture. No guilt. No timer counting down.
Do the thing. Then do whatever you want.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Pick the apps. You know which ones.
2. Pick what comes first. Push-ups, a walk, making the bed, clearing your desk, finishing your homework. Pick a few if you like: any one of them opens everything.
3. Open a blocked app and First is there instead.
4. Do the thing. Your apps open for the rest of the day.
5. Every morning, at a time you choose, it locks again.
IT CHECKS. POLITELY.
Track it. Prop your phone up and First counts your reps with the camera, hands-free, and talks you through them. Push-ups, sit-ups, squats, jumping jacks, high knees and planks. Your video never leaves your phone.
Trust me. For everything else, just say you did it. First takes your word for it. Mostly.
It starts small. Four push-ups, not forty. After a clean week it adds one. You can always turn it down.
THE SKIP BUTTON
Some mornings just aren't happening. Fair enough. Hold the skip button and your apps open anyway.
Each skip drops a dollar into your skip jar (or more, if you want it to sting). It's your money: save it, spend it, do what you like with it. First never takes a cent. It's just a price tag on "I'll do it later", and it turns out a price makes you think twice.

First doesn't think your phone is ruining your life. Watch the man restore the rug. Read the whole thread. Finish the level. Just do one thing first.

Supportive, if you want it quiet. Keen, if you want a cheerleader. Roast, if you want a mate who teases you about the deal you made. It teases the deal, never you.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account. No sign-up. Everything lives on your phone. First can't even see which apps you picked: iOS keeps that private, from us too. Rep counting happens entirely on your device, and your video never leaves it.
NEVER A TRAP
You can always take an app off the list, lower a target or change the deal in Settings. First takes away the shortcut, never the exits.
