No more Caps Lock delay: input sources switch the moment you press Caps Lock. A Windows keyboard gets Command beside the space bar. Lock the keys to wipe them clean. Keyboard Layout Switcher removes the Caps Lock delay when you switch input sources, and lets a Windows layout keyboard work like a Mac one. NO CAPS LOCK DELAY When Caps Lock switches input sources, macOS holds each press for a moment to tell it apart from turning on capitals. Choose Mac Layout Keyboard in the menu bar, and Caps Lock switches input sources the moment you press it, with no wait. The app shows you how to set the input source shortcut the first time. WINDOWS LAYOUT On a Windows keyboard the bottom left row reads Ctrl, Windows, Alt: the key beside the space bar is where a Mac keyboard has Command, but it works as Option. Choose Windows Layout Keyboard and Option and Command trade places on both sides, so Command is back beside the space bar, right Alt included. Caps Lock switches input sources without the delay here too. BACK TO NORMAL Choose the checked layout again, and every key does what it did before. CAPS LOCK FROM THE MENU With Caps Lock busy switching input sources, the Caps Lock item in the menu turns capitals on and off. While they are on, the menu bar shows the Caps Lock symbol. LOCK THE KEYS TO CLEAN THEM Choose Lock Keyboard and every key stops for a minute, so you can wipe the keyboard without typing anything. The menu bar counts the minute down. Choose it again to finish sooner, and the keys come back on their own in any case: when the minute is up, when the app quits, and when the Mac restarts. EVERY INPUT SOURCE When the input source changes, the menu bar shows the new one for a moment: its own icon for input methods such as Korean, Japanese and Chinese, and its language code for keyboard layouts such as EN, DE or RU. MORE - Open at Login keeps your layout after a restart. - English and Korean. PRIVACY Keyboard Layout Switcher asks for no permissions, has no account, no server and no network access, and never reads what you type. Requires macOS 26 or later.
