A friendly ginger cat visits when it's time to pause. Set your rhythm, take a small break, and return when you're ready. A little company. A little time away. Break Cat is a quiet menu bar companion that reminds you to pause during a busy workday. When your work timer is up, a ginger cat walks across your screen and settles beside a friendly invitation to take a break. You decide what happens next: take a break, snooze for five more minutes, or dismiss the reminder. A break countdown helps you step away, and a fresh work cycle starts after a completed break. MAKE YOUR OWN RHYTHM Choose a 15, 25, 50, 60, or 90-minute work interval and a 1, 3, 5, or 10-minute break. The default is 50 minutes of active use followed by a five-minute break. Pause reminders whenever you need to. TWO WAYS TO COUNT Active mode estimates computer use from the time since your last keyboard or mouse input. It pauses after one minute without input. Reading can look idle, so choose the fixed timer while awake if you prefer to count that time. A long enough absence resets your work cycle. Sleep and inactive user sessions suspend counting. A GENTLE VISITOR The cat's arrival is brief, silent, and designed to leave keyboard focus with your work. The cat artwork lets clicks pass through; the reminder has its own controls. Reduce Motion uses a stationary arrival. Try the preview immediately or schedule it for ten seconds later to see the cat over another app. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Break Cat works locally. No accounts, ads, analytics, or network calls. The app does not record screen content, keystroke content, app usage, or activity history. Only your timing preferences are saved. Break Cat is a reminder, not a work blocker. It does not measure attention or verify whether you took a break. Closing settings keeps the app in the menu bar; choose Quit Break Cat to stop it. Work progress resets when you reopen the app.
