Defend the stumps and build your best innings in Howzat, a cricket arcade game for iPhone and iPad, styled like a county-ground match programme and scorebook.
Hold the control pad and slide to move the bat. Send the ball into wall zones worth 1, 2, 4 or 6 runs. Protect your wicket and avoid being caught at an OUT rail before your shot bounces.
• Learn the controls with a short, hands-on pad lesson.
• Make the player yours in a cricket-card album: choose a face, skin tone, hair (including afro, curls and dreadlocks), beard and headwear, then your kit, pads, gloves and bat.
• Choose left- or right-handed controls and Adaptive or Planted footwork.
• Face six-ball spells from Spinner, Medium and Fast bowlers, including topspin and backspin variations.
• Bat through the day: the sky moves from afternoon to golden hour, dusk and a floodlit night, with crowd reactions and milestone celebrations.
• Follow runs, balls, delivery speed, strike rate and your best on the green scoreboard's number plates.
• Read every innings as a page from the scorebook, and share it.
• Explore your local career, recent innings and bowler-by-bowler results on a painted pitch heatmap.
• Compare best-innings runs through optional Game Center rankings, and see last week's top 10 when a new week begins.
• Never lose an innings: close the app mid-innings and resume it later from the menu.
• Your career is saved to your own iCloud, so it survives a new device and your iPhone and iPad share it.
Adjust the bat size from Settings, including while paused. Effects, crowd, music volume and haptics have separate controls, and game audio mixes with your music. Send feedback straight from Settings.
Howzat is free to play and works offline. It has no ads or tracking, and no account is required to play. Optional one-time tips support development and unlock no content or features. Game Center rankings, iCloud sync and purchases use Apple’s services.
Made for iPhone in landscape and for iPad in any orientation or window size, with iOS 17 or later. Every screen plays the same field, so scores stay fair.
