How good is your color sense? Memorize a shade, then rebuild it from hue, saturation and brightness — five daily colors, the same for everyone, every day. Hueku is a color recall game: memorize a color, then guess the color back with three sliders — hue, saturation and brightness. A color fills the screen. Seconds later it is gone, and those three sliders are all you have to bring it back. That is the whole game. It is a test of color sense and visual recall, it is harder than it sounds, and it gets easier the more you play. HOW IT WORKS • One full-screen color, three to six seconds to look at it • It disappears • Rebuild it with the hue, saturation and brightness sliders (HSB, also called HSV) • Ten points for how close your shade looks, then the two side by side DAILY Five colors, the same for everyone on Earth, every day. They come from the date itself, not a server, so the daily puzzle works offline and there is nothing to sign into. One attempt, always on Normal, so a score out of fifty means the same thing whoever earned it. Share your result as five colored squares and a number. SOLO The same five rounds with fresh colors, as often as you like. Difficulty changes how long you get to look at the color — three, four or six seconds — but never how hard the marking is, so a nine on Easy and a nine on Hard mean the same thing. GAUNTLET A grid of tiles where one tint is not quite like the others. Find the odd one out before the timer runs out. The grid grows from four tiles to thirty-six, the difference between the tones shrinks toward the edge of what an eye can see, the clock tightens, and one wrong tap ends the run. Recognition rather than recall, and a different kind of hard. WHY IT IS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS The eye compares two colors side by side very well, and holds one in mind very badly. Hue tends to survive the wait; saturation is usually the first to go, which is where most players lose points they did not expect to. SCORING Each round is worth ten points, scored by perceptual color difference, so a guess that looks close scores close. Three bars break it down by hue, saturation and brightness, and show which slider let you down. YOUR PROGRESS A seven-day chart of daily scores, your streak, your best round, and an answer to a better question than any single score: which slider always costs you points. SPARKS A Spark is a second chance: carry a Gauntlet run past the miss that ended it, streak intact, or replay a Solo round that got away — and only a better score replaces the one you had. You start with three, one more comes from watching an ad, and packs are there if you want them. Buy any pack and the full-screen ads stop for good. The daily puzzle never takes a Spark — everyone gets one attempt at the same five colors. PLAYS OFFLINE The game runs on your phone. No account, no server, no waiting — every mode works offline, the daily puzzle included. FOR ANYONE WHO WORKS WITH COLOR Designers picking a palette, illustrators mixing a tint, developers typing RGB and HSB values by hand, students learning color theory — and anyone who wants a short game that is not another word puzzle. A round takes under a minute, which makes it quiet eye training between other things. MAKE IT YOURS Candy and Night, or Auto to follow your phone. Three corner styles, three voices, haptics you can switch off. NO ACCOUNT, NO LEADERBOARD There is no sign-in and no sign-up, and your scores stay on your phone. Ads appear after every second Solo game, and at most once an hour when you come back to the app; never mid-game, never in Daily or Gauntlet — and never again once you have bought a pack. Rewarded ads are only the ones you choose to watch. A NOTE ON COLOR VISION This game asks you to tell colors apart, so color vision deficiency makes parts of it genuinely harder — the hue slider especially. The numbers under each slider are exact, and Easy gives you longer to look; Gauntlet offers no such help. Better to say so here than to let you find out after installing.
