3D Mechanic: How Cars Work
Explore & rebuild car systems
Free · In‑App Purchases
New in 2.5.1: the Clutch, from pedal to flywheel. Press the pedal, watch the disc stop while the flywheel spins on, then find the bite point. Seven car systems in 3D
Ever wondered what actually happens when you press the brake pedal, turn the wheel, or let out the clutch? 3D Mechanic puts real automotive assemblies in your hands — not diagrams, but full 3D hardware you can orbit, pull apart, and rebuild.
SEVEN REAL SYSTEMS
• Suspension — MacPherson strut (free)
• Wishbone — double A-arm suspension
• Brakes — floating caliper corner with ABS
• Steering — rack & pinion
• Drivetrain — CV axle, joints & open differential (71 parts)
• Engine — inside the four-stroke inline-four
• Clutch — pedal to flywheel, hydraulics and all (62 parts)
LEARN
Orbit each assembly, explode it apart, and tap any of 300+ real parts for what it does, how it fails, a pro tip, and a workshop spec sheet. Run the live animation — the bump test, brake test, steering sweep, four-stroke cycle, pedal press — and watch every part move the way it does on a real car. Take the guided tour or toggle a translucent car body to see where the assembly lives.
BUILD
Every part starts scattered on the shop floor. Drag each one home in true workshop order — the app knows what installs next, snaps parts into place, and calls out mistakes just like a mentor would.
QUIZ
Two quiz types per system: identify parts on the 3D model, and put the assembly in the correct installation order. Best scores are saved so you can watch yourself improve.
Built for learners, new technicians, car enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to understand the machine they drive every day.
ONE PURCHASE, EVERYTHING
Suspension is free. A single one-time Full Garage purchase unlocks all seven systems and every future module. No subscription, no ads, no tracking, no account — and everything works offline. Family Sharing supported.
The Clutch, rebuilt from the pedal to the flywheel.
• A complete hydraulic clutch in detailed real parts: pedal box, master and slave cylinders, release bearing, pressure plate, disc and flywheel.
• Press the pedal and watch the diaphragm spring flex and the disc stop while the flywheel keeps turning, then let it up slowly through the bite point.
• Start the engine and find the bite point yourself.
• Look inside, lift out any of nine systems and tear it down stage by stage, with torque specs.
• New build steps and quiz questions for the clutch.
