Kansel stops real-estate, loan and scam calls before your phone rings. The list is built by its users: when enough trusted people report a number, Kansel reviews it, adds it, and every phone updates on its own.
What Kansel does
• Auto-block: turn it on once and confirmed spam calls never ring. It needs you to sign in with Apple or Google
• A Kansel warning when a reported number calls you, and you can choose to block suspected numbers too
• Check any number and see if others reported it before you answer
• Report a spam number in seconds: your report protects the next person
• Your own block list: a number you block never rings on your phone
• The list keeps itself up to date, without opening the app
Private by design
• Kansel never asks for your contacts or your call history
• The list is downloaded to your phone and matching happens there
• Reports are tied to an account to stop abuse; reporters are never disclosed
How a number gets listed
A number is listed only after several trusted users report it independently. It first appears as "suspected" and reaches you with a warning; once it passes a higher threshold it becomes "confirmed" and is blocked for people who switched auto-block on. Sudden bursts of reports from new accounts are reviewed by hand before they count, and numbers saved in your contacts are never blocked. Any number can be appealed at kansel.app/appeal; we answer within 72 hours. The same explanation is inside the app, under Community list and "How Kansel works".
On iPhone
After installing, turn Kansel on once in Settings → Apps → Phone → Call Blocking & Identification; the app walks you through it. From Spotlight and Siri you can check a number without opening the app.
These are iOS rules: calls from your saved contacts always come through, blocked calls appear in Recents, and on iOS 26 a number you called yourself keeps ringing until you delete your calls to it from Recents.
