Thok is a tiny menu bar app that gives your MacBook keyboard the warm, tactile sound of a mechanical keyboard. Each supported key press triggers a carefully recorded Deep Thock, positioned across your audio output to follow the key's approximate place on the keyboard. SIMPLE BY DESIGN • Turn keyboard sounds on or off from the menu bar • Adjust the sound independently from your Mac's output volume • Preview the effect before enabling keyboard access • Keep your preferred volume and enabled state between launches PRIVATE BY DESIGN Thok uses macOS Input Monitoring only to respond to key presses. It works with physical key codes—not the characters you type—and does not reconstruct words or save key events. The app has no accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking, or network access. It runs in the App Sandbox without incoming or outgoing network permissions. Thok is made for mechanical-keyboard enthusiasts, developers, and anyone who misses a warm, tactile typing experience. Requires macOS 14 or later and Input Monitoring permission. Spatial positioning is calibrated for the built-in MacBook ANSI keyboard; external keyboards are not calibrated.
