Is It Locked? Door Checklist
Did I turn off the stove?
Free · In‑App Purchases
Record your checks before you leave, then see what you checked and when. One place and one checklist are free, with unlimited items and seven days of activity.
You're halfway down the street with your keys in your pocket, and the question comes back. Did I lock the front door? Did I turn off the stove?
Is It Locked? keeps a record you can look at when that happens. Make a short list of the things you check before you leave, like the front door, the back windows, the stove and the iron, and give each one an emoji. As you head out, check them the way you always do, then press and hold the big green button. A second is enough. The app checks off every item on your list in order and saves the exact time.
Later, when you wonder, open the app or look at the widget. Your list shows what you checked and when, like "Checked at 8:46 AM. Clears at 4:46 PM." Your list stays checked for 8 hours, and you can set that anywhere from 1 hour up to 3 days. Starting a new check or adding an item to the list clears it sooner. After that, Home says "Last checked yesterday at 8:46 AM" in plain gray, and Activity still shows the check with its date and time. The app only knows when you checked, so that's what it shows.
The button says Hold to lock because that's the moment you lock up. Is It Locked? records what you checked. It can't see your door or your stove, and it doesn't lock or switch off anything for you.
What's free
You get one place and one list, with as many items as you want and any emoji you like. Activity shows every check from the last 7 days, and you can tap one to see who checked and when. You can share a PDF of a check or export your history, and a small widget keeps your latest check on your Home Screen. You don't need an account, there are no ads or tracking, and nothing asks you to pay before your first check. The free version has no time limit.
What Plus adds
Plus is optional. It adds reminders, Apple Watch, more places and sharing with the people you live with.
Add more places, like the office or your parents' house, each with its own list. Each place can also have routines for a Quick errand, Workday, Overnight or Bedtime, with their own items. Home suggests each one on the days and at the times you set.
Get a reminder as you leave a saved place, or on the days and at the time you choose. Reminders stay quiet when their list is already checked, and Travel mode pauses them while you're away. Departure reminders only notice when you arrive at or leave a saved place, so there's no continuous tracking and no location history. Turn on Reset when I return and your list clears when you get back.
For the items that matter most, add an extra step. Take a photo of the stove knobs, scan your own NFC tag stuck by the door, or see the lock state Apple Home reports and then confirm it yourself. Photos are shrunk and their location data is removed. Thumbnails are blurred, and you choose how long photos are kept.
Activity goes back 90 days instead of 7. You also get medium, large and Lock Screen widgets, and a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while a check is in progress. On Apple Watch you can continue a check and confirm each item from your wrist, and complications and the Smart Stack show your last check. Siri, Shortcuts, Spotlight, Control Center and the Action button can all start a check. They open the right list, and you still confirm it yourself.
Share a place with your household through iCloud. Everyone sees who checked what and when, and you get an alert when someone else finishes checking. The people you invite don't need their own Plus to see the shared place and record checks on it. If a few of you share one iPhone, you can add each person there too. Your lists and checks also stay in sync across your own devices through private iCloud.
Plus is a monthly or yearly subscription, charged to your Apple Account. It renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage or cancel it any time in Settings.

Home now shows when your check clears, like "Checked at 8:46 AM. Clears at 4:46 PM." You choose how long each list stays checked, from 1 hour up to 3 days. After that, Home says when you last checked, with the day, like "Last checked yesterday at 8:46 AM."
Widgets and Apple Watch now show the date with the time too, so yesterday's 8:46 AM no longer looks like this morning's.
If you're new, setup starts with a short explanation of how the app works.
The Plus page now lists every Plus feature in one place, with Free and Plus side by side. You can also redeem an offer code right in the app.
Household sharing through iCloud has a round of fixes. People you invite don't need their own Plus to see the shared place and record checks on it.
