rName renames your files in bulk, calmly and without surprises. Drop in a folder, build your rules, and the table in the middle shows you every new name next to the old one right away: nothing is touched on disk until you say so. EIGHT RULES TO COMBINE The new name comes from a chain of rules applied in order, from top to bottom. Drag them to reorder, switch them off without removing them. • Replace — find and replace text, with regular expressions and $1 groups too. • Insert text — a prefix, a suffix, or text at an exact position. • Remove characters — a range, the first or last characters, or a recurring pattern. • Numbering — a running sequence with start, step, digits, and separator. • Letter case — lower case, UPPER CASE, Title Case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case. • Date and time — the creation date, the modification date, or today's, in the format you pick. • Extension — set it, normalise it, or remove it. • Clean up name — double spaces, accents, emoji, invalid characters, spaces into _ or -. Every rule can act on the name only, the extension only, or the whole file name. PRESETS Save a chain as a preset and call it back with one click. Four are ready to use: Tidy up names, Number in sequence, Date prefix, Web-friendly names. NOTHING HAPPENS BEHIND YOUR BACK • The preview is always there: you see the result before you confirm. • Conflicts are found and set aside: names that would collide, files already on disk, invalid characters, names that are too long. Those files stay out of the operation instead of breaking it. • Undo (⌥⌘Z) puts the files from the last operation back to their previous names. • Swapping two names, or changing just the capitalisation, works: rName goes through a temporary name, and if anything fails it puts the original name back. ONE FILE AT A TIME, TOO Double-click a row and type the name by hand. That file stops following the rules and is marked with a pencil, until you send it back to the computed name. YOUR PRIVACY, AND YOUR FILES • No uploads, no account, no tracking. • Renaming a file requires permission to modify the folder holding it: rName asks once per folder and remembers. Settings › Permissions lists them all, and you can revoke any of them whenever you like. • Files never leave your Mac. BUILT FOR macOS • Drag files and folders into the window or onto the Dock icon, or use "Open With…" in Finder. • Shortcuts: ⌘O to choose a folder, ⇧⌘O to add individual files, ⌘↩ to rename, ⌥⌘Z to undo. • Light, dark, or automatic appearance; interface in English and Italian. Handy for tidying up holiday photos, scanned documents, the files of a project, or a music library.

Allow all your folders at once • New "Allow Folders or Disks…" button in Settings › Permissions: choose your home folder or a whole disk and rName will stop asking for permission for the folders inside it. You can select several folders or disks together. • When you allow a parent folder, rName no longer asks again for the other folders inside it. • Revoking a folder's permission now immediately updates the folders inside it as well. • The list of authorised folders shows names as the Finder does, such as "Macintosh HD". • A new app icon.
