Play a friend on one iPhone or iPad, the computer at one of three strengths, or other players online with an account. No ads and no in-app purchases.
Kami Chess is chess on a 3D board, with light boxwood and dark walnut pieces.
Play a friend on one iPhone or iPad, play against the computer, or play other people online with a Kami Chess account. From the menu you choose which side the computer plays, White or Black, and how strongly it plays: Gentle, Steady or Strong.
Playing
• Tap a piece and the squares it can move to light up. Tap one of them to move there.
• Drag with one finger to turn the board, and pinch to zoom in and out.
• A pawn that reaches the last rank offers four pieces on the board: tap the one you want.
• The status line says whose move it is, when the computer is thinking, who won by checkmate and why a game was drawn.
• Undo takes back a move. Flip turns the board to the other player's side. Reset puts the view back where it started.
• Hold your iPhone or iPad upright or on its side: the board and the controls follow.
Online
• Create an account or log in from the menu. Multiplayer, on the main screen, lists the players, those online now first. Tap one to challenge them.
• Your games holds your challenges, your open and finished games and your record against each player. An online game has no time limit: make your move and come back later.
• While the app is open, a card tells you when someone challenges you, answers your challenge, moves or ends a game.
• You can decline a challenge and block that player, report a player, and delete your account from the menu.
The rules
All the moves of chess, including castling, en passant and promotion, with check and checkmate, and draws by stalemate, threefold repetition, the fifty-move rule and insufficient material.
No ads
No ads and no in-app purchases. Without an account Kami Chess needs no internet connection and sends nothing anywhere. The privacy policy is at kamidesigns.be/privacy/kami-chess.
